Partner with LJP Waste Solutions management team by supervising the daily service to LJP Waste Solution’s residential and commercial customers ensuring safe, timely and cost-effective services in accordance with LJP’s practices and procedures. The Route Manager is responsible for the management and supervision of drivers. The Route Manager must be understands LJP’s values and applies principles of positive leadership in the supervisor of the routes and drivers, as well as creative thinking to ensure routes are completed in a timely and effective manner. The Route Manager responsibilities include but are not limited to: organizing and scheduling necessary resources required to accomplish activities, planning and distributing of route assignments, providing continuous learning and training for drivers, and ensuring the highest standards of operational excellence by effectively managing the day to-day operations of the truck shop. Duties: Ø Select, train, and develop qualified, diverse workforce. Ø Manages driver attendance, work productivity, hours and recommends or implements changes to continually improve work productivity and cost savings. Ø Reviews weekly demand/volume for routes, determines potential gains from re-routing, and recommends re-routing solutions. Ø Sets and monitors productivity, service, and safety targets for each route and driver. Ø Communicates driver schedules and route changes. Ø Perform route audits and ride-a-longs to ensure safe and efficient procedures are followed. Ø Ensures that drivers comply with physicals, drug or alcohol tests, and training required by regulatory agencies. Ø Conducts First Report of Injury/Incident investigations for all injuries and incidents, ensuring consistent discipline and proper retraining. Ø Report equipment/vehicle issues with maintenance. Ø Assist with onboarding new employees to ensure all training is completed and operating skills demonstrated. Ø May be required to drive route vehicles in order to cover shortages in staffing, missed pick-ups or assist drivers who are behind their normal schedule. Ø Oversee and schedule the delivery of new residential and commercial account containers . Ø Completes performance evaluations of drivers and motor vehicle reports annually. Ø Performs other related duties as assigned including onboarding and assist with driver training. Education and Experience: Ø Required: Associate’s Degree or 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or solid waste operations in which coaching, routing assessments and leading employees were requirements of the role. Ø Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or solid waste operations in which coaching, routing assessments and leading employees were requirements of the role. Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 a year
