GENERAL DESCRIPTION Assists with the marketing and recruitment of potentially successful foster and respite families in the community. Performs market analysis to target specific recruitment as needed. Performs recruitment duties that include public speaking and marketing using diverse formats such as social media, local news stations, print, etc. Responsible for developing creative promotional content and demonstrating effective written communications for both internal use and media distribution. Gathers data and helps analyze the effectiveness of promotional programs implemented by the department. Does related work as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Assist in the implementation of a strategic recruitment plan including the identification, analysis, and development of strategies to deliver recruitment message to the target market.
• Works individually and in conjunction with other staff, foster parents, and community-based volunteers to implement an ongoing recruitment campaign to attract people interested in becoming foster and or respite parents.
• Responsible for the creation of high-quality marketing materials to educate prospective foster parents about the need for and role of foster parents within the community.
• Provides clear, concise information about fostering and respite homes.
• Serves as a key liaison with the community and other organizations to coordinate and plan presentations and special events.
• Drafts email newsletters, news releases and public service announcements for approval by supervisor
• Writes articles and feature stories for both internal and external publications.
• Helps with website maintenance and upkeep as needed.
• Helps with social media marketing as needed.
• Must be able to work outside regular business hours on occasion for special events.
REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES Education
Required : High School diploma or equivalent supplemented by college level courses in communications or related field.
Preferred : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or related field. Knowledge and experience related to fostering.
Experience
Required : Two (2) years’ experience in media communication or public relations. Previous experience with digital publishing or graphic design software
Certifications/Licenses
Required : Valid Virginia driver's license and good driving record
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of the principles of media communication
• Skilled in marketing, recruitment, and various media outlets.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing including professional reports, and correspondence.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of computers.
• Knowledge of graphics, layout, printing, and audiovisual processes
• Ability to plan & schedule projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and media groups.
• Skilled in public speaking
• Ability to work outside normal working hours.
• General knowledge of social services and foster care in particular
Additional Requirements
Subject to a complete criminal history and Child Protective Services background search with acceptable results. Must be able to perform the job as described in the Physical and Environmental Demands section of this job description.
