GIRL SCOUTS OF VIRGINIA SKYLINE COUNCIL Job position: Fund Development Manager Reports to: COO Classification: Full-time exempt staff As a member of the Fund Development team, the Fund Development Manager is responsible for assisting the Chief Operating Officer in building, planning, managing and implementing fund development strategies across the jurisdiction of the Council. The Fund Development Specialist will plan, organize, and carry out strategies needed to implement a council wide grants initiative. In collaboration with Finance and Program staff, the Fund Development Manager will coordinate the implementation of grant awards and ensure post-award compliance. This position will assist with any additional development initiatives, including events, donor stewardship and sponsor identification and cultivation as assigned by the COO or CEO while supporting the continuity of the Girl Scout Mission through the development. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:  Articulate council fund-development priorities and practices to foundation supporters, civic organizations, and United Way agencies.  Assist COO to carry out the strategies needed to implement a council wide grants initiative.  Research, track and administer United Way applications/allocations.  Work with COO and Mission Delivery staff to ensure council representation at United Way and other key foundation related events.  In coordination with Program and Executive staff, research, track and administer other grants and foundations’ support.  Develop and maintain, in conjunction with the COO, grant application calendar for all grant opportunities across the Council.  Develop in conjunction with the Finance Director, grant administration policies and procedures in accordance with state, local, and federal regulations.  Perform various general grant administration functions such as billings, budget amendments, plan change, program evaluation, etc.  Assist with accurate and timely preparation of grant billings and reports in conjunction with the Finance Director. Ensure ongoing monitoring of grant program goals and monthly performance.  Create and maintain appropriate spreadsheets and documentation to support grant expenses in conjunction with the Finance Director.  Communicate relevant grant information with all appropriate internal users. Prepare written and statistical reports for various audiences.  Work in conjunction with Program staff in collecting outcomes.  Coordinate with the Finance Director and Program team to ensure compliance to funding regulations, and that program outcomes are captured for all program pathways.  Provide support to the COO well as other fundraising-related volunteer committees to ensure fulfillment of fund development roles.  Foster the professional growth and effectiveness of the development and community outreach MarComm team.  Actively maintain existing relationships while continuously targeting and facilitating new opportunities that will contribute to the Council's funding.  Make effective use of the Council's data management/donor management system. - Serve as the staff liaison for the board’s Fund Development Committee. - Responsible for gift entries and reporting on donor data. - Assist COO with donor stewardship opportunities. - Engage with council funding partners at community events. - Assist the COO with planning and execution of fundraising events.  Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Required:  Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum of one-year experience.  Demonstrated grant administration/writing experience preferred.  Demonstrated success with procurement of grants and United Way funding preferred.  Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with donor base software and foundation research applications. Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, email application, and other Development/Fundraising software as indicated.  Knowledge of grants and grant administration systems, processes and budgeting.  Ability to analyze and systematically compile technical and statistical information and to prepare reports and correspondence; comprehend and make inferences from written material; interpret federal, state, and local government laws and regulations regarding grant contracts and administration.  Demonstrated relationship management skills, with the ability to quickly gain and maintain credibility and engender the trust of volunteers, staff, colleagues, and community organization representatives.  Demonstrated public speaking skills. Ability to formulate concise written and oral reports.  Ability to network to access and develop community resources.  Communicate orally and in writing with customers, clients or the public; work effectively with a variety of staff, other governmental and community representatives, and the public;  Ability to follow established procedures and perform independently in fast-paced work environment.  Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.  Ability to work effectively with adults and community groups reflective of the council's diversity including race, religion, economic status and disability.  Proven track record for self-motivation, self-management and functional independence.  Daily access to transportation, along with applicable documentation of legally required automobile insurance and valid driver’s license; ability to travel independently to a variety of locations in the council's jurisdiction or other locations.  Willingness to work with all persons without regard to age, gender, race, religion, ethnic origin, socio-economic status, sexual orientation or disability or other protected class status.  Ability to work in varied environments to carry out functions in a variety of indoor and outdoor locations.  Successfully pass a background check.  Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings/weekends; occasional overnights may be required.
