The Property and Casualty Claims Adjuster, working independently and exercising good judgment and discretion, is responsible for the investigation and management of P&C claims files within his/her assigned territory. Compensation is $55,000 - $70,000 annual salary depending on years of relevant claims handing experience. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provides a high level of client service to both external clients as well as interfacing with other departments and staff. 2. Follows best practices, ensuring compliance with Company standards and policies, strictly adhering to industry, state and federal regulations. 3. Participates in routine claims operations including claims evaluation, adjudication and client service in accordance with agreed quality and production standards. 4. Meets all department performance standards as set. 5. Manages P&C claims based on severity, working with staff to resolve claims issues within set authority, communicating with clients and involved parties. 6. Determines validity of a P&C claim, setting reserves within authority levels, making recommendations for reserves outside authority levels. 7. Works directly with client/member on first-party losses and directly with claimants on third-party losses. 8. May assist with lawsuits, working with management, staff, and outside attorneys. Negotiations and settlements based on severity or complexity of claim/lawsuit. 9. Collects information and prepares reports as requested. 10. Maintains and monitors paperwork to ensure complete, accurate files and data. 11. Keeps the Property and Casualty Claims Supervisor informed of all activity outside pre-set guidelines. 12. Works collectively with all staff to promote a positive work environment. 13. Conducts all business in accordance with Company policies and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS Education and Experience College degree required. A minimum of 5+ years experience in property and casualty claims handling with a solid understanding of policy analysis and associated legal issues is required. Possession of a current AIC designation in good standing preferred. Strong computer skills required. Driving Requirements Travel may be occasionally required. Use of a Company car or personal vehicle will be necessary. Proof of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required. Equal Opportunity Employer.
