Description: The Lab/Quality Manager must ensure all company products meet consumer expectations and demands. Additionally, this position is responsible for building the infrastructure of the brewery’s quality benchmarks, managing the lab testing to analyze all aspects of product quality, creating process standards aimed at process repeatability, and ensuring the brewery maintains compliance with all FDA, USDA, FSMA, and TTB standards. Requirements: Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary occasionally. Plan and oversee the successful operation of all laboratory functions. Collaborate with upper management to set quality benchmarks. Create standards in accordance with industry and customer expectations, then monitor the production process and employees to ensure the standards are being executed properly. Properly record and investigate all product quality concerns, then relay findings back to the production team with potential solutions to avoid issues in the future. Work with the lab team and the other production managers to increase productivity and performance while maintaining the highest-quality product. Make crucial decisions in favor of cost efficiency without compromising on product quality. Maintain responsibility for management of all Quality/Lab staff, including managing time off, training, coaching, performance management, and employee relations. Maintain a strong level of communication with our production, marketing, and sales teams to ensure that any relevant information is effectively communicated to the other departments. Education/Experience B.S degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, biology, or microbiology Minimum of 4 years of experience in the industry, lab, or quality experience preferred Supervisory/management experience preferred Communication Skills Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels throughout the organization. Reasoning ability. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization. exists. Ability to interpret a variety of information furnished in written and oral form. Physical Demands The physical demands required of the position include prolonged standing and walking, extended periods of computer use and keyboarding, and a normal range of hearing and vision.
