Job Description
Award-winning, nonprofit healthcare system is seeking an Administrative Director, Surgical Services. The Administrative Director will supervise and coordinate the activities 75 employees in of the Operating Room, Endoscopy, Post Anesthetic Care Unit, Ambulatory Surgery Dept., Peri-operative Clinic, Pre-Admission Testing, OR Supply Coordinators, Surgery Center, and OR Central Sterile Dept. 24/7. Responsible for ongoing development of department policies and procedures. Participate in the investigation and preparation of reports relative to the improvement of care and services. Maintain regulatory standards, and maintain the OR/Surgery center inventories, safety training, and personnel performance. Ensure appropriate staffing levels to maintain quality patient care. Ensure the needs of patients are provided in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Ensure the Department's mission, vision, values, and strategic and quality plan reflects the organization's current and anticipated strategic priorities. Develop, train, orient, coach, and mentor employees and managers.
Responsible for proactive process and efficiency improvement of operating room facilities, surgery turnover, and supporting functions. Ensure the highest level of financial effectiveness and reimbursement. Responsible for continual upgrading of surgery technology. Responsible for implementation and use of key metrics for the department.
Qualifications
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing - BSN. MSN degree preferred.
• Prefer Certified Perioperative Nurse credential (CNOR).
• Current Indiana Registered Nurse License is preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience with hospital operating room responsibilities or with a surgical center.
• Minimum of two (2) years of management experience.
• Hospital operating room or surgical center experiences could be from clinical or financial/administrative leadership.
• Knowledge of healthcare policies, governmental regulations, and reimbursement practices pertinent to the department.
• Computer skills to include database, spread sheet, and word processing.
• Strong organizational, leadership, financial, and administrative skills in order to manage multiple issues simultaneously combined with ability to effectively prioritize.
• Knowledge of best practices and efficiencies within a surgery department is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of current technology to support best practices.
• Strategic planning capabilities to lead department into the future.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills necessary in order to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress.
