Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
The Research Professional IV position will provide research and technical assistance to state agencies and local governments to meet specific project deliverables related to planning and zoning, land use policy, environmental policy, water resources policy, coastal policy, and downtown visioning and design. This person will seek out, write, and develop grant and/or project proposals as well as provide grant and/or project management support for funded projects, including the development and management of budgets and reporting requirements. This person will go beyond participating in and supporting the Infrastructure and Community Resilience Division projects and will oversee research and management of such projects. This position is responsible for drafting, finalizing, and presenting project findings to clients and stakeholders. In addition, responsibilities include providing general project support for the Infrastructure and Community Resilience Division, which includes organizing meetings, working with clients and stakeholders, developing and implementing training and outreach materials, organizing principal investigators in large, interdisciplinary projects, conducting focus groups and community engagement, assisting with educational and training events, and providing general research and writing support. The person in this position is expected to accomplish these duties while participating in academic research and relevant professional associations.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
• Ability to apply an advanced professional knowledge of applied research and policy analysis.
• Candidates with a Ph.D., J.D., or M.A. degree in a field of study commensurate with public policy, environmental sciences, public administration, or planning are preferred.
