POSITION SUMMARY Position Summary: Monitors performance, provides training and coordinates workflow with the revenue cycle staff for hospital and ambulatory functions. Monitors inpatient and outpatient billing and accounts receivable for all payer classes including follow up on claims with the insurances companies. Utilizes resources available through the payer's websites, including Medicare and Medicaid, to ensure full compliance of federal and state laws and regulations by maintaining detailed knowledge of carrier guidelines and regulations. Monitors the quality and timely submission of abstracted information and coding of diagnoses and procedures for data retrieval and reimbursement. Understands ICD-10-CM/PCS Disease Classification System, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) to ensure compliance with the Standards of Ethical Coding. Monitors registrar staff and may perform Registrar duties. Registrars act as the initial contact for our patients and the public. Monitors and reconciles petty cash no less than monthly. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education High school or equivalent Associate degree in business, accounting, management, health information science, or related field preferred Minimum Experience One year of experience in a hospital setting preferred Staff training experience preferred One year coding experience in a hospital setting preferred Required Registration/License/Certification If RHIT, Accreditation as an R.H.I.T.
