Job Summary: Operate heavy equipment machinery to excavate, fill, level and distribute material for installation of underground utilities (sewer, water and storm sewer lines) for municipalities. Operator is proficient in the use of a diverse range of construction equipment including, Excavators, Loaders, Dozers, Rollers, Skid Steers and other pieces of equipment. Will provide training as necessary. Work area typically southern Minnesota and northern Iowa; occasionally farther. Must be capable of operating multiple pieces of construction equipment used in underground construction, base preparation and construction in a safe and appropriate manner. Pre-employment drug testing. Must be able to walk, bend, climb, shovel and lift up to 75 lbs. to assist in numerous tasks on the crew. Must be able to work extended hours during the construction season, and willing to travel. Must be able to work outdoors, sometimes in extreme weather conditions. Conduct self in a professional manner at all times in the execution of duties. Must report to work as scheduled. Maintain professional demeanor in all dealings with clients, supervisors and employees. Duties and Responsibilities: Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment. Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, and clean, lubricate and refill the equipment as necessary. Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the equipment. Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of construction equipment Demonstrate the ability to effectively and professionally communicate with co-workers. Must work as a team to complete jobs safely and effectively. Demonstrate proficiency in adhering to all Federal, State, and Local laws.
