HB Transitional Shelter - Support Partner
Since 1971, A New Leaf has faithfully worked in service to our mission of “Helping Families…Changing Lives,” making a positive impact in the lives of more than 24,000 people each year in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Services focus on HEALTH, HOUSING, AND COMMUNITY SERVICES, offering a continuum of support to move households from crisis to long-term health and stability. A New Leaf continues to grow to respond to needs in our community by developing comprehensive, relevant and effective services for vulnerable and underserved families, children, and adults.
Our central Phoenix campus hosts 76 fully furnished apartments and a number of program resources to provide the utmost comfort for our residents and ensure their success! Families entering the Homeward Bound program team up with a Case Manager to develop a plan for their next home. Each Homeward Bound family has access to a variety of supportive services, including housing navigation, workforce development, and educational courses to support them on their journey.
Hourly Rate Pay: $17
Available Shifts
• 8am - 4pm (morning)
• 4pm - 12am (overnight)
• 12am - 8am (night flex)
Qualifications
Education:
• High School Diploma or GED required
Experience
• 0-2 years of experience working with homeless or economically disadvantaged populations preferred, but not required.
• Demonstrate and provide strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
• Committed to teamwork and can establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Demonstrate a basic understanding of Trauma Informed Care.
• The skills necessary to engage and work with others from diverse ethnic and cultural groups, coupled with always maintaining professionalism.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Greet residents, visitors, vendors and guests in a welcoming manner & issues visitor badges.
• Checks that all guests have received and are wearing a guest badge prior to entry into any campus building or onto campus grounds.
• Document (verbal/written) and submit significant and routine paperwork such as shift reports, daily activities, special concerns, client entry/exit forms, etc.
• Answer and screen phone calls (multiple lines) and be able to provide resources/screening crisis calls.
• Assist with the introduction of program and facility orientation.
• Brief residents on program rules, chores, housekeeping requirements, fire safety instructions, social distancing, Universal precautions and assuring adherence.
• Monitor campus activity and respond to resident needs, facility concerns and emergencies.
• Provide crisis interventions as needed.
• Assist with maintaining program appearance, cleanliness and maintenance of agency physical plant, equipment and/or agency vehicles. May report repairs and maintenance needs through email ticketing process.
• Able to operate 12-15 passenger vehicles, when necessary.
• Accept community donations and may be required to pick up and transport donations to the Shelter and/or our Donation Center.
• Assist Case Managers with weekly unit checks & assist with move-in process as needed.
• Operates video monitoring equipment
• Responds to alarms and dispatched calls; decides what actions to take based on situation, facts known and position limitations

• Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Valid Driver’s License with reliable transportation
• Current Auto Liability Insurance
• Clean 39 Month Motor Vehicle Record
• Must Be At Least 21 Years of Age
