Job Description
A part time Research Assistant is being sought to support projects in the lab of Dr. DiFeliceantonio (https://fbri.vtc.vt.edu/research/labs/difeliceantonio.html) at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech Carilion in Roanoke, Virginia. This position involves some management duties, such as supply ordering and management, participant scheduling, etc., and research duties. Projects in the lab are multidisciplinary, combining techniques and methodologies from neuroscience, nutrition, metabolism, and psychology. The overarching goal of the lab is to understand the metabolic and neural mechanisms of food choice and specifically how modern, ultra-processed foods hijack these systems.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented person who enjoys interacting with others, being a key part of a diverse and active scientific environment, learning new techniques, and managing multiple project duties. This position will provide an excellent opportunity to gain research experience in metabolism, nutrition science, and neuroscience as preparation for graduate school or medical school.

- Capable of working independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior research experience in nutrition, psychology, neuroscience or a related field
- Coursework or training in Neuroscience, Biology, Chemistry, Nutrition, or a related field with an emphasis on laboratory experience, or equivalent education, training and experience.
- Working experience in an academic/research setting.
