Job Summary/Description:
KEYC News Now is looking for a passionate and energetic anchor and producer who knows the community. We are in the heart of southern Minnesota, with the Twin Cities only being an hour away. We want someone who thrives on local news and community information.
Help our viewers get their day started as co-anchor of our 90-minute morning newscast that airs on our CBS & NBC stations. Our newscast competes and wins against the morning newscast from the Twin Cities market. You’ll also help produce the morning newscast. The ideal candidate will be a team player and be able to communicate effectively with management, staff, KEYC News Now viewers, and our community.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Serve as the morning news anchor and producer for a 90-minute newscast
• Shoot, write, and edit stories with an emphasis on covering local events as needed
• Meet daily deadlines
• Write and post stories on multiple social media and digital platforms
• Report live from various events
• Update station website and social media accounts throughout the day as needed
• Adhere to station branding and promotion
• Adhere to safety rules and programs and assist in implementing new safety initiatives
• Other duties as requested by News Director and/or General Manager
Qualifications/Requirements:
• 4-year degree in journalism, broadcasting, communications or related field
• An engaging and comfortable on-air personality
• The ability and desire to enterprise and produce local sports stories and content
• Excellent communicator
• Team player with a positive attitude
• Anchoring, reporting, and producing experience preferred
• Integrity, accountability, teamwork
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Spend extended periods of time sitting, using telephone & computer workstation
• Able to drive vehicle and spend extended periods of time in a vehicle traveling to and from various locations
