Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
This is professional work in the area of nutritional advisement and counseling. An employee allocated to this class of work provides counseling to meal plan participants with medical problems affecting nutritional status and nutrition education to students with a focus on disease prevention.
Professional work in the area of menu planning for specialized diets, food allergen reporting, and nutrient analysis. Supervision of the Dietetic Technician, student nutrition clericals, and student interns is required. Recipe development and product selection is conducted closely with chefs or autonomously as needed. Develop and implement nutrition education programs as needed.
Work is performed under general direction of an administrative superior and is evaluated through periodic conferences and the observation of program results.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
• R.D. with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
• L.D. with Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Dietitians.
• Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of nutritional care and counseling.
• Active, or completion within 6 months of hire, ServSafe manager certification with the National Restaurant Association.
• Ability to identify nutrition education needs and to develop appropriate programs to meet those needs.
• Ability to communicate ideas effectively, orally and in writing.
• Ability to deal effectively with individuals and groups.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
• Skill in word processing software.
