JOB GOAL: The Student Enrichment Teacher will implement the Floyd County Public Schools Gifted Plan by working with teachers, administrators, parents, and community members to ensure the educational needs of gifted children are being met through differentiated instruction, enrichment experiences, and/or direct service. They will implement screening and testing procedures for the identification of gifted children.  The Student Enrichment Teacher will assist in the professional development of enrichment opportunities for all students at FCPS.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Master's Degree preferred.
• Active Virginia teaching license; endorsement in Gifted Education preferred.
• Has at least five years of successful full-time teaching and/or academic coaching experience.
• Demonstrates skills in written and oral communication.
• Possess leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with students, teachers, administrative staff, and parents.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide leadership in the implementation of high-engagement, challenging instructional model for students in grades K through 12.
• Collaborate and coordinate in the development and delivery of professional development for enriching instruction.
• Support the implementation of the identification and programming for gifted students.
• Support teachers in designing appropriately challenging instruction all students.
• Model/observe lessons for appropriate challenge of instruction that leads to measurable growth of high achieving and gifted students.
• Support students by providing services directly to high-achieving and gifted students as needed.
• Consult with parents, administrators, counselors, teachers, community agencies and other relevant individuals regarding the needs of high achieving learners.
• Consult with the Director of College and Career Readiness to facilitate enrichment opportunities for students, including summer enrichment programs, summer residential governor's school, and admission to governor's schools.
• Assist with program website.
• Assist with the selection and purchase of supplemental equipment and supplies for the program.
• Maintain inventory of specialized materials and records for the delivery of differentiated instruction and gifted services.
• Reflect and conduct an annual needs assessment and evaluation of the program.
• Compile, maintain, and file all physical and digital reports, records, and other student documents required.
• Monitor the integrity and fidelity of the program.
• Travel as required to fulfill job responsibilities.
• Participate in appropriate regional, state, and national activities.
• Stay informed of research and trends in differentiated and gifted education.
• Attend scheduled department meetings.
• Provide professional development, as needed and requested by the central office and/or building administrators.
• Discharges all responsibilities and fulfills all obligations as specified in contract, policies and guidelines in Floyd County School Board.
• Complies with School Board policies and all state/federal rules and regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or superintendent.
Physical and Environmental Requirements of the Position:
• Ability to move about in a classroom with varied seating and desk organization patterns.
• Ability to supervise and accompany students, when necessary, in transitioning from one area to another within the building and/or school campus.
• Entails significant walking, bending, standing, stooping, and possible interventions in order to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Reach, grab, push, pull, lift, move, restrain, and/or support up to 50 pounds (and/or up to adult size body weight with two-to-three-person lift).
• Some degree of physical interaction with students who have difficulty controlling physical behavior.
