JOB GOAL: To assist teachers and reading specialists during literacy instruction so all students have access to grade-level literacy instruction to close literacy gaps.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalency required.
• Must have an Associates Degree or 60 college credit hours or pass the parapro assessment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position involves collaborating with reading specialists, teachers, and administrators to analyze literacy data and assist teachers with flexible small-group and whole-group literacy instruction.
Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:
• Assist teachers and reading specialists with the administration of the VALLSS assessment as directed by the administrator.
• Collaborate with school staff to review screener and progress monitoring data in order to plan for targeted support.
• Provide individual and/or small group instruction using VALLS protocols or FCPS adopted curriculums as directed.
• Maintain accurate records of individual and/or small group interventions provided and track student progress.
• Share collected data with teachers, reading specialists, and administrators in order to adjust intervention plans as necessary to ensure growth.
• Provide scaffolds and assistance to students during whole group literacy instruction as directed.
• Assist with school-wide literacy efforts to improve literacy outcomes.
• Participate in professional development to strengthen and broaden skills needed for this role.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned by the school principal or other appropriate administrators.
