POSITION PURPOSE
Safely, joyfully, and efficiently produce the highest quality wort at our Southern Mill brewing facility.
Reports To
Brewing Manager
Duties And Responsibilities
• Quality Wort Production
• Ensure that all wort sent to cellar is on time and to gravity and quality specifications or that a remediation plan is in place and clearly communicated to the Brewing Manager.
• Produce wort according to all SOP's and notify the Brewing Manager to any discrepancy.
• Efficiently manage time to achieve brewing schedule.
• Raw Material Handling and Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP)
• Collect malt samples from every new silo of bulk malt as required.
• Rotate and maintain freshness (FIFO) for all brewing raw materials.
• Maintain GMP standards and complete all required special cleaning as directed by the Brewing Manager.
• Ensure routine and proper clean-in-place (CIP) of all brewing equipment.
• Production Optimization and Maintenance
• Aid in identifying areas for process improvement.
• Troubleshoot issues as they arise with support from Maintenance Dept., Brewing Manager, Krones, etc…
• Perform brewhouse preventative maintenance (PMs) as needed or directed by the Brewing Manager and Maintenance Director.
• Professional Development
• Participate in Giant leadership training when possible.
• Attend sensory panel whenever schedule allows. Participate in sensory training course once every 2 years.
• Assist in the training of new Specialists as directed by the Brewing Process Manager.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications : One year of production experience in a brewery making 5000+ bbls/year. Preferred experience in brewing and automated brewhouses in breweries producing 30K+ bbls/year.
Physical requirements: Extended standing, bending, sitting, lifting at least 55 lbs. to waist height, ability to move up to 165 lbs. across the floor (kegs, hoses), ability to climb stairs, read from multiple screens, adequate hearing ability to work safely with others in a loud environment, tolerance for hot, cold, noisy, and dusty conditions.
