Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Greek Life, The Assistant Director for Greek Life is responsible for coordinating and advising the Interfraternity Council, its respective executive board, and the 27 nationally affiliated fraternities, totaling 2500 members. The position also coordinates the recruitment program and the computer management system for 700+ participants and manages a budget of $230,000 annually. The position is responsible for coordinating Greek Life leadership development programs including Order of Omega (200+ members), Emerging Greek Leaders Institute (100+ participants annually), the Emerging Greek Leaders Fellowship program (12-15 upperclassmen students). The position will also lead the experiential learning experiences for the Interfraternity Council (executive officers and chapter presidents).
Additionally, the Assistant Director is responsible for response to the crisis and conduct concerns on and off-campus impacting the Greek community with collaboration from the Equal Opportunity Office, Office of Student Conduct, Office of Academic Honesty, Office of the Dean of Students, the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, the University and Athens Clarke County Police, and individual groups' national offices. The Assistant Director will collaborate on the development and facilitation of Greek Life educational programming covering topics such as sexual assault, alcohol, drugs, hazing, and other health, safety, and wellness issues, providing direct advisement to appropriate officers of governing councils for program resources related to health and safety. The position's responsibilities include weekends and some evening work.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
• Demonstrate proficiency in understanding and interpreting various regulatory frameworks, and in navigating and supporting compliance with university policies, national organization standards, and legal requirements for collegiate fraternal organizations.
• Possess and maintain in-depth knowledge of unique operating practices and functional areas of collegiate fraternal organizations, with the ability to provide accurate advice and navigate these systems effectively.
• Demonstrate familiarity with the nature of issues related to student safety, the campus partners who work to prevent them, and research-supported strategies for addressing them.
• Ability to explain and apply theory, research, and good practice in student learning and development to their advising, training, and educational efforts.
• Capable of identifying, managing, planning, and executing the basic duties of a departmental program, including fiscal oversight, recordkeeping, etc.
• Ability to acknowledge, navigate, make quality decisions, and lead through these complex issues.
• Ability to coordinate multiple competing priorities, consider long-term implications of their work, use limited resources intentionally, and organize work in a way that produces the best results.
• Ability to deliver on institutional/organizational outcomes and demonstrate effective use of institutional/organizational resources.

Interfraternity Council Advisement
• Directly advises the Interfraternity Council including its' Executive Board and 27 member fraternities with 2,500+ members.
• Coordinates the IFC recruitment program and the computer system for recruitment activities for over 700 participants.
• Maintains fiscal oversight of the annual recruitment budget ($160,000), annual IFC Council Budget ($70,000), totaling $230,000, and utilizes appropriate procurement and contracting practices.
• Addresses potential violations of the Code of Conduct (i.e. hazing, disorderly conduct, alcohol and other drug related misconduct, sexual misconduct, etc.)
• Creates, executes, and supports initiatives in areas such as risk management, hazing prevention, sexual responsibility, scholarship, diversity, officer training, chapter development, membership recruitment, new member orientation, alcohol and other drugs, and social events to immediately address health, safety, and wellness issues.
• Creates and sustains partnerships with chapter advisors, house corporations, local and community stakeholders, alumni, and national organizations to assist in the development of a positive Greek Life community and to support the University Strategic Plan.
• Provides risk reduction for the Greek Life community by ensuring their understanding and compliance with all University policies, as well as municipal, state, and federal laws with appropriate resources and training.
• Maintains statistics, rosters, and fraternity records. Independently produces reports for UGA , fraternity chapters, fraternity national offices, alumni, and the public.
• Maintains the positive position of the Greek Life community by ensuring their understanding and compliance with all University policies, as well as municipal, state, and federal laws by providing the appropriate resources and training.
• Leads the experiential learning experiences involving Interfraternity Council executive board officers and chapter presidents.
• Liaisons with house corporations who lease houses and land from the University
• Provides direct supervision, evaluation, and support to the Coordinator of Greek Housing and Graduate Assistant for Governing Councils.
• Actively promotes and participates in the development, retention & engagement of the Coordinator of Greek Housing.

• Updates staff members and Director as necessary.
• Available 24 hours a day to directly and independently respond to calls at office and at home and make referrals to University Police, Office of Student Conduct, and the Equal Opportunity Office, when necessary, and to immediately address behavior on or off campus.
