Full job description
U.S. Traffic Control is seeking applications for work in the areas of Rome, Trenton, Chatsworth, Athens and South Georgia.
U.S. Traffic Control (USTC) offers complete temporary traffic control services and full-cycle roadway management programs to maintain an orderly and coordinated traffic-flow system that safely accommodates all vehicles and pedestrians. The founders of USTC got their start in 1999 as emergency response and logistics experts to support recovery efforts in the aftermath of natural disaster events within the continental United States. JOB SUMMARY
A Flagger is responsible for ensuring the safety of the motoring public, the client, and themselves by informing motorists of possible detour routes, lane closures, reporting disobedient drivers to law enforcement officials, and maintaining a professional relationship with the motoring public.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Setup, maintain, and remove temporary work zones including warning signs, traffic cones, stop slow paddles, and rumble strips.
• Guide traffic and pedestrians safely through and around the work area.
• Read and comprehend US Traffic Control’s safety manual and employee handbook to comply with policies.
• Cheerfully communicate to ensure that automobiles and pedestrians do not interfere with or pose a danger to laborers and their projects.
• Communicate with other flaggers using hand-held radios to direct two-way traffic onto a single lane.
• Make decisions on whether to allow cars onto a single lane based on observed traffic flow.
• Inform the construction crew of any traffic issues that may affect their safety.
• Record the license plate numbers of motorists who neglect to obey traffic signs and directions.
• Demonstrate exceptional observation skills and be cool under pressure when dealing with angry motorist.
• Other job duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
You MUST -
• Pass a drug screen and background check prior to employment.
• Pass a Fit-For-Duty physical exam.
• Have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record (No major offenses or super speeder tickets in the last four years).
• Be a minimum of 21 years of age.
• Be willing to travel. Housing provided when traveling.
• Be willing to work overtime. Extended shifts are common with weekends as needed.
• Have reliable communication to receive work schedule.
• Provide your own steel-toe or composite work shoes to be worn during your work shift.
• A professional certification for North Carolina or South Carolina in the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) is desirable but not required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Physical strength and stamina.
• Be able to work in all weather conditions and tolerate varying climates of heat, cold, and rain.
• Be able to stand throughout your entire shift, hand and arm movement is required.
• Manual dexterity to operate two-way radios and enter information into tablet PC.
• Be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
