Position Summary
The Senior Coordinator for Aquatics is an integral part of the Recreational Sports Aquatics area and reports directly to the Assistant Director for Aquatics. The coordinator will participate in the programming and daily operations of the Ramsey Student Center Natatorium. This position supports academic classes, varsity swimming and diving team activities, student recreational programming and special events. Primary duties include: recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising a staff of 75 to 100 lifeguards and aquatics instructors; developing and managing revenue-producing aquatic programs; and assisting with the department's safety training and emergency action plans. This employee will also work with two Maintenance Foremen. Additionally, this person assists with providing overall leadership for the Recreational Sports staff in the development and implementation of recreational programs and services for the University of Georgia community.

Physical Demands
• Frequently move throughout the 440,000 sq. ft Ramsey Student Center to stand; walk; sit; reach
• Climb up and down ladders and in small spaces; walk across narrow accesses such as 1.5 ft. widths
• Operate department owned vehicles to run job related errands
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds

Facility and Risk Management:
• Assist with the development and implementation of risk management policies and procedures for the Aquatics area.
• Evaluate existing policies according to industry standards and make changes when necessary.
• Coordinate the CPR /First Aid/ AED training for all Recreational Sports staff members including 30+ Professional Staff and 500+ Student Staff members.
• Serve as the Co-Chair of the Recreational Sports Risk Management Committee.
• Collaborate with all Recreational Sports program areas to develop area specific Business Continuity Plans, Emergency Action Plans (EAP's), and safety procedures.
• Collaborate with other entities on campus including the Office of Emergency Preparedness to create a safer campus environment.
• Assist in ensuring that all swimming pools and related areas are operating above the minimum standard set forth by local, state and/or national agencies.
• Assist in ensuring that all aquatic personnel are properly informed and prepared to implement the established emergency action plans.
• Provide evening and weekend supervision of the Ramsey Student Center and special events conducted in the Recreational Sports facilities.

Program and Policy Management:
• Manage the Aquatic programs offered, including American Red Cross Safety Programs, and any additional programs to meet the needs of the student body and university community.
• Recruit, train, motivate and supervise qualified instructor personnel for non-credit instruction including, but not limited to: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, Community First Aid and Safety, Water Safety Instructor ( WSI ), Lifeguarding Instructor ( LGI ), and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
• Conduct evaluations of instructors and programs to assess program quality and receive participant feedback.
• Assist the Assistant Director for Aquatics in the dissemination of information pertaining to the operation of the facility.
• Actively participate in the continual process of updating policies and procedures including but not limited to the revision of personnel manuals and training techniques.

Personnel, Fiscal, and Strategic Management:
• Assist in the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of a staff of 75-100 Lifeguards, Aquatics Managers, Swim Lesson Instructors, Safety Training Instructors, and Program Assistant(s).
• Assist in the development and administration of budgets pertaining to aquatic programs for the Department of Recreational Sports.
• Work as an integral member of the Recreational Sports staff in pursuing the departmental vision of providing the best possible recreational learning opportunities every day through excellent facilities, programs, services, and experiences.
