SUMMARY: The summer orientation team leader is to assist the First-year Experience GA and Program Coordinator with summer orientation events. The salaried team leaders’ primary responsibilities are to the new students as they ensure they have an excellent, safe, and Christ-honoring experience. Team leaders will report directly to the First-year Experience GA and Program Coordinator. Work dates: June 16-22 PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Guide new students —counselors will live in the residence halls with new students and will ensure that they have a safe and Christ-honoring experience in the residence halls. They will ensure that students arrive at required activities on time and know how to navigate the BJU campus. Speaking or advising students during student workshops/sessions Spiritual leadership —Team leaders will be responsible for evening devotions in the residence halls. This will include presenting devotional challenges, leading discussions around topics, and leading in prayer groups. Additionally team leaders will make themselves available to assist campers with spiritual needs as they are presented. They will also assist the First-year Experience team in any needs related to the specific curriculum. Ambassador for BJU — ensure that new students have an excellent experience and use the opportunity to promote BJU as a strong option for their college career. Other duties as assigned —being a summer orientation team leader means that you are flexible and have a servant’s heart. Team leaders may be called on to perform other duties that benefit the BJU summer orientation experience but are outside of the specific duties listed above. Must be available for training and work June 13-18 and 20-25 Must (occasionally) lift/carry and/or push/pull up to 100 lbs. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: High school graduate or GED Must be enrolled as a student at Bob Jones University with at least one year of coursework at BJU Able to maintain and present a professional image to new students, their families, and faculty and staff Able to lead small-group discussion Able to connect to new students Excellent customer service skills Able to think on your feet and make good decisions Knowledge of student experience, campus environment, student resources and philosophy
Salary: $30.1K - $38.1K a year
