Provide your engineering expertise to support and project management for various water, wastewater, and reclaimed water projects to the Utilities Planning and Utilities Operations groups. • Utilize the County’s hydraulic modeling software, Bentley’s WaterGEMS, & SewerGEMS to improve and develop the county’s hydraulic models.
• Use modeling software to review operational impacts on the water, wastewater, and reclaimed water systems relative to zoning, development reviews, and future growth.
• Establish and maintain a system that monitors the current and future capacity of utility systems, including water capacity, wastewater capacity, and reclaimed water capacity.
• Provide direction and technical input for capital improvement projects (CIP), site and development reviews, and operational issues.
• Serve as project manager for assigned Sarasota County water and wastewater and reclaimed water projects and advise on technical issues and procedural standards related to expanding or improving the existing utility system.
• Manage and lead asset management projects within the Utility Engineering Asset Management group to include the analytics, assessment, and evaluation of Utilities Wastewater/Water Plants, Lift-Stations, Collection systems, Pump Stations with associated infrastructure, and Capital Improvements Rehabilitation & Replacement Programs.
• Manage and lead the effort on expanding the implementation of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to plan, optimize, track, and define the associated priorities for required maintenance or R&R activities.
• Manage the performance of design consultants and/or construction contractors to ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations with the County.
• Meet with operational staff to develop designs, and scopes of service, or to procure goods or services to address facility upgrades, repairs, or improvements.
• Represent the Public Utilities Department at public meetings and as a subject matter expert in County Commission presentations.
About You Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related technical field with direct experience related to water, wastewater, and reclaimed water system and facility design, construction, and operations.
• P.E. or P.G. credentials.
• Four (4) years post P.E. or P.G. of related project experience.
• -OR- Master's degree may substitute for one year of required experience.
• A valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
• Florida Registered Professional Engineer Certificate.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to design and construction of water, wastewater, and reclaimed water systems and facilities.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.
About Everything Else Starting Pay Range: $98,000.00 - $101,000.00, based upon experience.
