POSITION SUMMARY: This part-time position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. As a Human Resources Generalist you will provides support to the Director of Human Resources in ensuring day-to-day tasks and operations of the human resources department are completed thoroughly, timely and with the utmost confidentiality. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Works in conjunction with the Director of Human Resources to insure all Human Resources policies for the organization are followed with regard to employee relations and benefits. 2. Maintaining confidentiality on all employee and volunteer personal and sensitive information is a must. 3. Act as a positive role model while implementing YMCA character development and following the four core values of Caring, Honesty, Responsibility, and Respect. 4. Provides customer service and act as a point of contact for employees and directors with questions and concerns. 5. Advertise employment opportunities to attract quality individuals who are a cultural fit for The Mankato Family YMCA . Assist in creating job postings, keep employment website and other external electronic job postings current when employment is needed. 6. Oversee the employment application process. 7. Assist Program Directors with pre-hire screenings, such as phone screenings, interviewing, reference checks, and background screenings. Communicate results regularly with Program Directors who are making the final decision on hiring. 8. Administers and tracks all background checks and National Sex Offender Registry on all new hires, volunteers and annually as needed. 9. Facilitate onboarding of new employees, including new hire orientation, set-up of proper resources , including entering and reviewing all new hire information in payroll system 10. Maintains and coordinates employee files and records according to state and federal laws. 11. Conduct employee verifications (via phone, mail or email). 12. Coordinate, track and monitor CPR certifications and any other required training for all employees, assist with setting up CPR classes 13. Assist the Director of Human Resources in developing and implementing a comprehensive recruitment plan to meet staffing needs and organization priorities. 14. When needed assist HR Director with HR systems and employee records to ensure accuracy and improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization. Ensures timely and accurate submission of data requested by the EEOC, YMCA of the USA, Department of Labor, etc. 15. Follow all YMCA policy and procedures including Child Abuse Prevention. 16. Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned by your supervisor or Executive Director. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Never been accused or convicted of any child abuse including sexual abuse 2. Associate’s degree in Human Resources or a related field or equivalent work experience 3. Two years’ experience in human resources or a related field 4. General knowledge of employment laws and practices 5. Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs 6. Experience in recruitment 7. Database management and record keeping 8. Effective oral and written communication 9. Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality 10. Excellent organizational & accuracy skills 11. Knowledge and professional experience in planning and policy, talent management, selection, compensation, benefits, training and staff development, employee relations, and performance management. 12. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations. Perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time. The ability to calmly and effectively react in an emergency situation. This job description represents the major functions of the position but is not intended to be all-inclusive. The incumbent is also responsible for completing projects or preforming duties deemed necessary for the Mankato YMCA’s success.
Salary: $33.5K - $42.4K a year
