Description: JOB SUMMARY The Loan Officer has intermediate level responsibilities related to consumer, commercial and/or agriculture lending activities. This individual is required to be knowledgeable and skilled in consumer, commercial and/or agriculture lending and is expected to maintain adherence to all Bank policies and procedures. The Loan Officer is expected to provide technical, practical problem solving and specialized support services to bank customers and staff and is expected to exercise initiative and judgment on how to address and resolve problems on a regular basis. The Loan Officer assists in attaining Bank and branch goals through active participation in loan management and branch activities and is expected to provide leadership, training and support to less experienced officers and staff members. ________________________________________ PERFORMANCE DIMENSIONS & KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI) Specific KPI’s Critical to the success of the position: Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers, vendors and personnel to gain and retain quality relationships. Quality: Develop and support Banking business in line with organizational goals and objectives. Policy Compliance: Adherence to all Bank and Department policies and procedures including, but not limited to: those regarding attendance, dress code, and those outlined in the Code of Conduct. ________________________________________ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Develop and support Bank business by capitalizing on business opportunities and directly or indirectly influencing the production of revenue and the control of office expenses while maintaining adherence to all Bank policies and procedures. Promote business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services. Conduct interviews with existing and new customers to establish financial needs and make recommendations to satisfy those needs. Request specific information related to loan or credit application in order to perform underwriting and pre-qualification assessment as well as analysis of financial condition and risk of financing request. Underwrite, evaluate and originate commercial, agricultural and/or consumer loan applications. Make lending decisions within lending limit and in accordance with the Bank’s credit policies and procedures. Conduct financial analysis of existing and new relationships and prepare presentations of analysis for management and loan committees. Perform post loan closing file review to ensure all documentation has been obtained and was completed accurately, in accordance with Bank and regulatory guidelines. Follow up on loan documentation or loan tracking exceptions. Monitor and maintain a safe, sound and profitable loan portfolio, monitoring loans to ensure credit quality and collecting payment on delinquent loans. Responsible for customer relationship management, development and retention by providing quality customer service while performing intermediate level responsibilities related to commercial, agriculture, and consumer lending activities and financial services. Support Bank growth by identifying cross-selling opportunities, deepening relationships, and increasing client acquisition including the establishment and maintenance of key relationships and business contacts within the community and targeted industry segments. Other duties as assigned. Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a 4-year college or technical school in Business Management, Finance, Economics, or related field; or 4 years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 2+ Years of successful credit analysis and lending support experience. Advanced knowledge of commercial banking terminology and methodology. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 5+ years direct industry experience, knowledge and training in all credit analysis and loan servicing activities and terminology. ________________________________________ ENVIRONMENT and COGNITIVE /PHYSICAL DEMANDS The environment for this position is an open office that is mostly clean and comfortable. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. The individual is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time in an office setting. Good organizational and time management skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills including use of phone, computer, speaking, listening, and presenting. Ability to problem solve, negotiate and persuade customers. Solid math and analytical skills. Computer literacy.
