Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, M-F; hours may vary at times due to weather, City festivals, etc. Salary: Minimum $16.90 hourly; dependent on experience General Description The purpose of this position is to provide street maintenance, cuts grass and trees, sidewalk maintenance, storm drainage, ditch and ROW maintenance. Drives and operates vehicles and equipment that requires CDL-CLASS B . This position works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary. Cleans streets, which involves picking up trash and debris and cleaning ditches and drains. Performs minor repairs on City buildings. Performs various street maintenance duties such as cutting grass, trimming limbs, cutting trees, patching asphalt, fixing and/or replacing sidewalks and driveway entrances, fixing and/or replacing or installing storm drainage facilities, etc. Removes snow. Completes work orders on a regular basis. Drives and operates department vehicles and heavy equipment. Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as maintenance route lists, daily hour logs, and vehicle preventative maintenance checklist. Prepares and/or processes records and report as needed. Refers to equipment operator's manuals, policy and procedure manuals, codes/laws/regulations, etc. Uses a variety of equipment and tools such as heavy trucks, tractors, lightweight trucks, shovels, rakes, lawn mower, axes, chain saws, weed eater, and various other supplies in the performance of job duties. Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the Public Services Supervisor, other City employees, and the public. Performs related work as required. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a high school or GED equivalent and two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of sidewalks, roadways, trucks, equipment operations or other relevant experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Physical Demands: Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis. Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment): Involves routine and frequent exposure to: Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen. Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions. Special Certifications and Licenses: First aid/CPR, ACI Flatwork Associate, Traffic Control and Pipe Installation trainings.
