Construction Estimator/Project Manager
Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimating Manager to join our team. The Estimating Manager will be responsible for overseeing the estimating process for construction projects, ensuring accurate and competitive pricing, and managing the overall cost control of projects. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills, excellent negotiation abilities, and a solid understanding of construction estimating software.
Duties
• Lead and manage the estimating team, providing guidance and support throughout the estimating process
• Review project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents to determine project requirements
• Utilize construction estimating software, such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam, to prepare accurate cost estimates
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimates
• Analyze project scope and develop detailed take-offs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs
• Build relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and ensure timely delivery of materials and services
• Negotiate pricing with vendors and subcontractors to achieve the best value for the company
• Prepare comprehensive bid proposals that clearly outline project costs and the scope of work
• Monitor project budgets throughout the construction process to identify cost-saving opportunities
• Provide support during contract negotiations and assist in reviewing contract terms and conditions
Skills
• Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles and techniques
• Proficiency in using construction estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar programs
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret project plans and specifications accurately
• Solid understanding of project management principles and practices
• Strong negotiation skills to obtain competitive pricing from vendors and subcontractors
• Ability to effectively communicate complex information to stakeholders at all levels
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Familiarity with cost control methods to monitor project budgets effectively
