UC Health is hiring a part-time Lab Support Technical Specialist for the pathology department for first shift at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
The Lab Support Technical Specialist provides technical expertise supporting specimen collection, specimen processing and customer service functions in the laboratory, and provides training and competency assessment for laboratory support personnel and external customers.

Responsibilities
Job ResponsibilitiesEngages in population appropriate communication.Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks.Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment.Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient.Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely.Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.Performs duties required of a Lab Support Technician (LSTs)Serves as a resource to associates, both internal and external to the lab, who order, collect and process laboratory specimens, including knowledge of applicable policies and procedures as well as hospital and laboratory information systems.Develops and implements orientation, training, and competency protocols for LSTs.  Ensures that all personnel are adequately trained and are competent to perform their assigned duties.Interacts with Patient Care Services to coordinate consistent application of training and competency programs. Coordinates all aspects of daily workflow for LSTs, including schedules and management of reports used for daily operations. Develops and monitors quality assurance programs for the phlebotomy and processing areas of the laboratory areas.Provides assistance to laboratory director by performing all other duties as assigned. Follows all safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
