Shift/Hours: This is a 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week). Day shift, no weekends and no holidays.

Expected Starting Salary Range: Minimum $18.59/hour; Mid-point $22.37/hour; Salary calculated based on years of experience

SUBFUNCTION DEFINITION: Medical assistants complete administrative and clinical tasks throughout the hospital
The Medical Assistant with the required training; education and demonstration of clinical expertise; performs delegated clinical and administrative duties at an advanced level under the supervision of a nurse or licensed physician.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
·Patient Care
Coordinate and assist with patient care and flow of patients and families. Monitor individual patient cycle times to ensure timeliness of patient visits and room turnover. Proactively identify problems and develop or contribute to solutions. Assist co-workers after completion of own duties. May function as a departmental liaison or resource. Provide technical expertise and clinical services and flex daily needs based on CCHMC policy, best practice guidelines and department needs. Assist care providers with procedures and physical exams of patients. Prepare patients for examination and treatment. Provide care consistent with the family-centered care and medical home models. Provide flexible, culturally competent and responsive care to the needs of the patient and family. Treat families as full partners with decision making processes regarding their child's care, which includes offering information, services and support in a collaborative and respectful manner.
·Customer Service
Customer Service: Serve as a customer advocate to best support and meet the needs of patients and families. Respond quickly to family requests and concerns and interact with customers utilizing a courteous, attentive and conscientious customer focus. Provide appropriate education/information to patients and/or families.
·Collaboration
May serve as a major support or lead on departmental processes, projects and policies. Work collaboratively/cooperatively with others to resolve problems and achieve goals. Develop positive working relationships with peers/colleagues and acknowledges other skills, experience, knowledge, creativity and contributions. Share knowledge and/or provide support for team members. Model and promote a positive and professional work environment/atmosphere.
·Data Management
Manage records per department policy. Assist with collection of data for various forms. Obtain consent and release of information forms when indicated. Maintain patient files, records and other information. Demonstrate adherence to established documentation practices with accurate and detailed data entry and document management.
·Laboratory Work and Testing
Manage specimens per protocols. Maintain knowledge of all routine testing processes and retrieve test results. Communicate normal lab results as appropriately delegated.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
· High school diploma or equivalent
·Two (2) years of MA experience
·CMA - Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) OR RMA - Registered Medical Assistant (AMT) OR CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA)
Preferred:
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and other relevant software
Decent command of the English language (spelling, grammar and punctuation)
Typing speed of at least 40-60 words per minute and a keen eye for detail, and accuracy
