About The Role – You Will
• As a Sr. Quality Systems Engineer is responsible for defining, maintaining, and improving quality systems and its tiered documentation. This role is responsible for leading the ISO/ IATF certification, VDA implementation and continued compliance to the requirements specified by international organization of standards (ISO), AIAG, VDA 6.3. 6.5 and applicable statutory and regulatory governing agencies.
• Ensure continued Customer satisfaction and integration of CSR (Customer Specific Requirements) within Proterra products, processes and systems using auditing and CI methodologies.
• Creating and maintaining the world class QMS documentation including policies, procedures, capability analysis, statistical process and quality control, document control approvals, internal and customer quality audits.
• Additionally, the quality engineer may be involved in product development, qualification process, supplier quality assurance and the initiation and control of changes to customer process control.
• Plan and direct activities pertinent to the valued added, practical, and operational QMS development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for manufacturing processes
• Create and maintain quality documentation, such as Business policies, procedures, WI etc.
• Review existing QMS and work collaboratively to promote continuous improvement, standardization across all levels of QMS.
• Participate in Issues resolution with Root Cause analysis and problem-solving skills; review production issues and articulate proper problem ownership of Engineering, Manufacturing and Supplier and assign Non-Conforming Reports (NCR’s) accordingly while being a catalyst for timely closure of NCRs and subsequent documentation updates and cascade lessons learned.
• Track, manage and ensure timely approval of NCRs (Prototype and Production); responsible for overall NCR metric, ISO/IATF readiness as well as periodic audit performance at all sites
• Present the status of NCRs, ensure timely review and closure to drive standardization and robustness of QMS processes.
• Focus on Prevent Recurrence and Lessons learned cascade across all QMS processes to sustain improvements.
• Support effort and build robust process to ensure past problem history (Warranty, Field, Manufacturing) is baked into new and existing APQP and QMS documents.
• Collaboration with cross functional program teams to detect and document potential failures
• Lead process audits and safe launch audits for all programs within manufacturing environment
• Collaboration with cross functional program teams to detect and document potential failures and ensure documentation is up to date.
• Collaboration with Supplier Quality and Supply chain to evaluate risks and actions due to external changes and impact on Proterra processes.
• Ensuring consistency between product FMEA-control plans and interface to the customer.
• Use of quality management methods and tools, lead standardization, and implementation.
• Act as a liaison between Proterra and registrar for all certification related topics.
• Act as a liaison between Proterra and customer for all customer audit related topics.
• Report and obtain required customer approvals on action items.
• The presentation of the methodology to the customer and in the context of audits.
• Continued monitoring and ensure good health of QMS as process and product changes.
• Track and drive implementation of recommended actions within manufacturing to lower potential risks (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Resource) to customers.
• Use process and data driven analysis to improve quality and customer satisfaction.
• Operate and maintain information in the assigned technical and quality databases, successfully achieving the objectives for the assignment.

• You will report to the Quality Manager-Enterprise and collaborate with cross functional team members located at headquarters in Burlingame, CA and manufacturing facility in Greer, SC.

Education And Experience Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial or equivalent) or associate degree in conjunction with relevant number of years' experience, at a minimum.
• 10+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably Quality experience in a manufacturing environment, automotive, electronics or closely related industry.
• 8+ years' experience leading internal, registrar, and customer audits within Automotive/ Manufacturing to IATF and VDA requirements, required.
• Prior experience implementing ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 certification and all aspects of QMS, required.
• Prior experience leading ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 internal audits (process and system), must have
• Accredited IATF 16949 lead/ internal auditor certification, must have
• Accredited VDA 6.3 Process auditor qualifications and experience, must have
• Understanding of manufacturing and quality system software packages (Ex. EtQ, IntellaQuest, QAD, Ignition, MES solutions).
• Expert in developing and implementing new business level processes based on internal and external requirements.
• Expert level understanding of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949, including implementing ISO/IATF and VDA requirements at an automotive Tier N supplier level.
• Expert level understanding of IATF gap assessment and CSR (Customer Specific Requirements) pertaining to automotive OEMs.
• Expert level ability to train leadership and organization on ISO 9001, IATF 16949 requirements, Quality systems, VDA 6.3, VDA 6.5 or equivalent requirements.
• Prior experience in training and coaching teams to ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements.
• Strong problem solver using 8D, 5-why, A3 and root cause problem solving methodology, supported by structured Root Cause analysis, countermeasure and prevent recurrence, may include the following: PPS, Shainin, etc.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills and proficient in use of Oracle.
• Experience with EU, CCC CoP (Conformity of Production) audits and requirements
• Experience with AIAG CTS or similar APQP Tools
• Practical knowledge of AIAG Core Tools and requirements
• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract variables.

• Physical Demands:
