Job Responsibilities
The instructor will advance the mission of the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities to identify and teach South Carolina's artistically talented high school students through programs of pre-professional instruction in an environment of artistic and academic excellence. The successful candidate will also advance the school's mission by serving as a resource for all teachers and students in South Carolina.
Under the direct supervision of the Academic Chair and/or Dean the instructor will teach the target world language for the 2024-2025 academic school year. These are part-time, adjunct positions with potential to teach French II up to advanced levels. German classes are typically German III and IV. The school offers Advanced Placement French and/or German based on student interest ( class enrollment).
Minimum and Additional Requirements Bachelor's degree in the appropriate academic discipline and at least three (3) years of teaching experience at the secondary or post-secondary level. Possess or have the qualifications to obtain South Carolina Teacher Certification. Ability to teach French and/or German.
Preferred Qualifications • Master's degree with at least five (5) years teaching experience in the appropriate academic discipline at the secondary and/or post-secondary level.
• National Board Certification.
• Demonstrated knowledge and interpersonal skills to work with public school students who have demonstrated exceptional artistic potential and achievement, other arts educators, and  diverse constituencies  and  cultures.
• Administrative experience  (departmental  leadership  or club sponsorship, organizing, leading, representing the department and school).
• Preferred candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as an educator.
