Job Responsibilities
Ten (1O) Month Faculty, Adjunct, Part-Time approximately 10-12 hours per week
Under the supervision of the Department Chair, the Instructor will advance the mission of the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities to identify and teach South Carolina's artistically talented high school students through programs or pre-professional instruction in an environment of artistic and academic excellence.
In consultation with the Department Chair and Dean, maintain a curriculum in accordance with national AP standards. Each week teach 2 sections of Hon/ AP A1t History to high school seniors, plus possibly other courses/duties as needed.

Minimum and Additional Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Art History, Visual Arts, Art Education, or related field as well as three (3) years of successful teaching experience in art history or studio art at the secondary or post-secondary level.
Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in Art History or related field, or graduate credits in art history if applicant holds a Master's of Fine Arts degree. Demonstrable knowledge of the history of global theoretical discourses within art; a focus on contemporary art and craft practices; and an active awareness of global trends in art, aesthetics, and politics.
Excellent classroom management skills. Demonstrated knowledge and interpersonal skills to work with public school students who have exceptional artistic potential and achievement, other arts and academic educators, and diverse constituencies and cultures. Experience advising high school students' academic and social/emotional development.
Willingness to try new collaborative efforts, teach new topics, work with diverse students on student proposed projects. The ability to write well and communicate respectfully with students and colleagues in courses and meetings. Preferred candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as an educator.
