Prevention and Wellness Specialist
Do you want to be a part of strengthening communities by encouraging and educating others about how to be healthy and resilient?
The Prevention Specialist plans, implements, documents, and evaluates substance abuse and/or mental health promotion services for children, youth, parents and community members in partner agency and community settings to decrease substance abuse and other risky behaviors and strengthen protective factors. This position is Full Time and is grant-funded.
Prevention Specialists provide training and education through presentations, public speaking, small group facilitation, and meetings to targeted populations, to promote effective prevention concepts, best practices, and strategies to reduce substance abuse and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and to promote community resilience. Using strong written and verbal communication, they develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with multiple community and organizational partners. They utilize a variety of best practices, evidence-based programs, and other strategies to develop and implement prevention strategies to reduce substance abuse and promote mental health wellness community-wide. They are a BRBH team member in providing trauma informed care and helping build safe relationships that promote wellness, resilience and recovery.
Entry Level Pay: $19.19.87/hour. Additional compensation commensurate with experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience: Minimum one (1) year experience providing training or education preferred; development of or engagement in professional relationships preferred.
• Skills:
• Proficient computer skills in working in the Microsoft environment including Word, PowerPoint, Exvel, Windows, and Outlook.
• Skilled at developing rapport with other organizations and maintaining working relationships that support the implementation of prevention services.
• Public speaking, leadership, and group facilitation.
• Exceptional organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, multiple deadlines, and scheduling conflicts, and the ability to implement numerous programs with different populations simultaneously.
• Ability to work autonomously and assess and manage situations quickly and effectively in the best interest of consumers, partner agencies, and BRBH.
• Clear understanding of professional boundaries and confidentiality when working with individuals and professional staff in partner agencies.
• Experience with data collection, evaluation processes, and reporting outcomes.
• Background Check: Candidates who are offered a position must undergo a background check and drug screen.
