• Performs compliance inspections of permitted and non-permitted food service facilities and complex operations to determine compliance with state regulations, standards, and guidance using a predefined process.
• Maintain assigned caseload by completing compliance graded inspections of retail food service establishments within established time frames, and initiate actions as required to ensure compliance with Regulation 61-25 governing Retail Food Establishments.
• Maintain all required Quality Assurance/Quality Control activities including but not limited to proficiency testing and standardization. Provide complete, detailed reports of inspections and outline any necessary enforcement action.
• Conduct and complete complaint investigations as requested and in accordance with applicable SOPs and program guidance.
• Investigate suspected cases of foodborne illness; collaborate with Epidemiology and Public Health staff in investigations.
• Provide programmatic consultation to food service industry personnel and other stakeholders. Performs pre-operational inspections and issues permits for new facilities.
• Daily travel throughout the state to Retail Food Establishments. May be required to drive personal vehicle if a state vehicle is not available.
• Perform other duties as required, which include attending periodic staff meetings and training.
Minimum and Additional Requirements State Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and experience in environmental health programs or radiological health. A bachelor's degree in the natural or physical sciences, mathematics, public health, engineering or a related technical field may be substituted for the required work experience.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Agency Additional Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in the natural or physical sciences or related technical field; (Natural or physical science may include, but are not limited to, Earth Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Environmental Science, Public Health, etc) OR an associate degree in the natural or physical sciences or related technical field and two (2) years of environmental health or related experience OR high school diploma and four years of environmental health or related experience.
