This position will deploy to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and function as a working military fighter Aircraft Paint subject matter expert. Will oversee military aircraft paint process and assigned crew in a common goal of completing aircraft paint process safely, with high quality, while meeting Lockheed Martin standards and customer requirements.
Responsibilities include:
• Responsible for providing Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) engineering reach-back support and day-to-day guidance in accomplishing daily work assignments safely, delivering a high-quality product, on schedule, with emphasis on end-user operational impact. Will be first line oversight for F-16 Paint activities.
• Leading and training crews in the day-to-day hands-on requirements to ensure completion of assignments in accordance with all processes, policies, and applicable tech data.
• Ensures the accuracy of aircraft documentation. Works with Quality to ensure product is in accordance with tech data.
• Reinforces a culture that values and embraces Foreign Object Damage prevention.
• Uses multiple proven techniques for conventional and low observable coatings to prepare aircraft for coatings removal from metal or composite panels.
• Performs corrosion removal, minor composite repair and prepares aircraft surface for coatings restoration using masking, sanding, spray, and brush roll methods utilizing the correct equipment and materials.
• Sets up work environment to ensure aircraft, personnel and facility safety is fully considered to ensure safe operation. Utilizes required or recommended Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure protection from injury while handling chemicals, equipment or while working in awkward positions.
• May be required to set up scaffolds, platform or operate lifts to reach aircraft areas not accessible from the ground. May be required to lift, pull, or position heavy objects alone or with a team.
• Will operate electronic or manual inspection tools to ensure coating applications, substrate materials or repairs are within tolerance. Works closely with authorized liaison personnel, to suggest or develop repair and/or maintenance procedures to be performed during routine maintenance operations or in the field, to assure maintainability of design requirements when coatings or finishes become damaged or worn during the life of the aircraft.
• Must be a United States citizen. Must possess an active Secret Security Clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
The following Basic Qualifications are skills that a candidate must possess to be considered for this position:
• 10 years’ experience military aircraft paint process and procedures.
• Experience with leading crews in a common goal of completing aircraft safely, with high quality, on schedule, following all applicable documentation.
• Experience with preparation of aircraft surfaces and detail parts for paint operations by cleaning, stripping, abrading, and/or chemically treating
• Experience with properly using and maintaining aircraft paint support equipment (e.g. spray booth) operations and procedures
• Experience with training personnel to perform complete finish removal, corrosion treatment, Radar Absorbing Material (RAM) material/final finish applications, and field repair of aircraft.
- Experience with proper aircraft painting techniques, mixing ratios, correct paint viscosity, identification of improper and/or unacceptable finish application, touch-up
- Experience with read and interpreting engineering drawings, processing specifications, technical manuals, as well as understanding of LM Aero drawing symbols, flags, and general notes
- Knowledge of general aircraft masking practices to protecting sensitive components, final wiping prior to paint application, prime and paint
Desired Skills:
The following Desired Skills are not required but are those skills that would set a candidate apart from the other candidates:
• Experience in identifying non-conformances and repot clearly and accurately
• Experience with performing basic fiber glass/composite repairs
• Experience in executing special and complex engineering instructions for repair and rework
• Experience of layout and application of required aircraft markings
• Knowledge of low observable, IR and RAM Coating application and repair
• Knowledge and ability to conduct destructive and non-destructive coating inspections
• Experience in navigating LM databases (EDMS, FIN, etc.) and T.O. Library
• Use of precision measuring instruments/tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
