ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Technology Transfer Office (TTO), under USF Research & Innovation, is responsible for the identification, evaluation, development, protection, and utilization of intellectual property rights that result from USF research activities and from the activities of USF researchers in affiliated hospitals and other off-site facilities.  TTO has 15 full-time employees and 4-8 graduate student interns and undergraduate student assistants.  Clients are mainly USF faculty, staff and student researchers and innovators, but also include venture and technology companies desiring to license USF inventions and technologies.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for specialized duties distinctive to the intellectual property (IP) program of the University and the Technology Transfer Office (TTO). Under general supervision, the Fiscal & Business Assistant will perform general office and intellectual property prior art analysis, as well as assisting with filing marketing targets and database management. The Fiscal & Business Assistant will work closely with the Communication Marketing Specialist and TTO’s Staff to help support the TTO technology commercialization efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluate current and future technology and "know how" across the globe to create technical insight that informs the ideal technology road maps. Use deep technical expertise to undertake due diligence and translate new science/technology so the business can evaluate the potential commercial opportunity. Ensures stakeholder alignment to innovation priorities and project plans.
This position identifies technologies with commercial applications; evaluates the commercial potential of inventions; identifies potential licensees; technical information for marketing purposes; develops and implements specific marketing strategies for each technology.
Works closely with the Graduate Student Intern Program to develop marketing materials related to USF technologies. Reviews, updates and approves technology flyers and other promotional materials for posting to website and other media outlets for maximum exposure. Collaborates with faculty and staff to identify appropriate targets for marketing campaigns, and advises on approaches and procedures regarding their technologies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with two or more years of experience in an office or administrative support position. College or other relevant postsecondary coursework may substitute for the experience requirement on a year for year basis.
