Medical Supply Technician
SITE OF SERVICE:
Cincinnati VA  Medical Center- 3200 Vine Street, Cincinnati, OH 45220
POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS: • Education :  Certificate of completion of a central sterile supply training course .
• Certification : CBSPD or HSPA (preferred)
• Experience : Minimum of six (6) months experience as a medical supply technician
• Certification : Basic Life Support Certification through American Heart or American Red Cross
• U.S. Citizenship : HCWs performing under this contract shall be U.S. citizens.
• English Language Requirement : The Contractor shall ensure that all HCWs providing services under this contract are able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.
• HCW Physical Capability : HCWs shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required
CORE DUTIES: • Provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and material including, but not limited to, sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets and equipment.
• Pulls stock inventory and material for delivery; replenishes stock inventory; interacts with clinical and administrative customers and maintains records on stock levels;
• Communicates to the Lead or Supervisor any concerns related to supplies, equipment and procedures.
• Provides information to customers regarding medical supplies;
• Monitors expiration dates, rotates stock to limit outdates and removes items from use as required by outdates;
• Monitors and controls critical supplies;
• Performs daily inventory using bar coding equipment on a predetermined schedule that will allow for timely replenishment;
• Resolves differences between records and physical count of stock;
• Distributes items according to established or ad hoc requirements in computerized inventory management systems;
• Delivers supplies in a timely manner and ensures supplies and material delivered are in sterile and operational condition;
• Completes specialty cart preparation;
• Ability to assemble specialty operating room and clinic instrument sets.
• In-depth knowledge of sterilization and cleaning equipment.
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing in order to convey information and thoughts to others.
HOURS: • Full time:  Monday-Friday (8-10 hr shifts)  8PM - 6:00 AM
• Saturday – Sunday- (Shift 48 hours)
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.  Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects.  Flexible and able to work with various personalities.  Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
