This position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to develop and implement strategic marketing plans and initiatives. The Assistant Director of Marketing reports to the Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and contributes to the overall success of the department through effective marketing strategiesJob Description:Job Description: Marketing Strategy: Create and execute innovative marketing and promotional campaigns to drive attendance and enhance the fan experience. Coordinate all aspects of game scripts, videoboard content, music, and fan engagement for these assigned sports: Men’s Soccer, Women’s Basketball, Volleyball and Softball.Game Day Operations: Assist in coordinating game day operations, including marketing activations, promotions, fan experiences, sponsorship fulfillment for Football and Men’s Basketball.Digital Marketing: Assist with developing and implementing digital marketing strategies, including content development and graphic design for social media, videoboard, email communication, website content management, and online advertising to reach target audiences and increase engagement.Sponsorship Activation: Collaborate with corporate sponsors to activate marketing agreements and ensure deliverables are met, including promotional events and in-game activations.Community and Campus Engagement: Assist with grass-roots marketing initiatives around Greenville and Furman’s campus.Supervision & Leadership: Oversee and coordinate the student internship program, including recruiting, training, and programming.Student Organization Liaison: Work with student organizations, cheerleaders, dance team, mascot, emcee, band, and DJ to coordinate various theme games throughout the year to increase student attendance at sporting events.Research and Analytics: Conduct research and analyze data to identify industry trends, evaluate marketing effectiveness and make data-driven recommendations for improvement enhancing the Furman game day experience.Budget Management: Assist in the development and management of the marketing budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to achieve marketing objectives.Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the external team, athletic staff, coaches, and other departments to coordinate efforts, maximize resources, and ensure consistent messaging and branding.Qualifications:Hours: Must be able to work 40-plus hours per week (including nights, weekends and holiday breaks)Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, sports management, or related field.Experience: Experience in marketing, preferably in collegiate athletics at the Division 1 level.Creative and Design Skills: Familiarity with graphic design software and experience in creating or overseeing the production of marketing collateral pieces.
