Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately-held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast. GMC has an opening for Construction Project Representative to support on-going projects in the Aiken, SC and Pendleton, SC, with close proximity to our Greenville, SC office. The Construction Representative will build on field experience with expectation to make significant contributions to the team efforts for the benefit of the client. Essential functions and responsibilities include: Upholds the firm’s values and standards for project delivery and client management. Expresses understanding of quality assurance while observing the progress of construction projects. Acts as directed by and under supervision of the Project Engineer. Reviews pay requests, submittals, field tests and other contract documents related to construction. Conducts on-site observations of contractor’s work to assist in determining if the work is proceeding in accordance with contract documents. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and awareness of plans and specifications, as well as the General Conditions of contracts. Demonstrates thorough understanding of regulatory requirements from different local, regional, state and federal agencies. Familiarity with general survey drafting standards and general construction drawing standards. Ability to apply technical skills to routine projects with minimal supervision. Visit construction sites to observe progress and to determine general conformance to engineering plans and specifications. QA/QC Executes cross discipline checks and coordination. Recognizes and reports risk management issues to Senior Designer as appropriate. Professional Competencies Client and Customer Focus Assists in learning the needs of assigned clients. Attends construction progress meetings. Communicate with clients with the knowledge and under direction of Project Engineer. Understand the profession’s ethical obligation to Client and the public welfare. Team Orientation Serves as engineer’s liaison with contractor. Assists with coordination of work with professional engineers, surveyors, technicians, environmental personnel, city code enforcement officials and construction crews. Ability to respond to common inquiries from contractors, surveyors, survey field personnel, city code enforcement or regulatory agencies. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years' experience High School Diploma Work Environment Field (90%) and Office (10%) This position requires work to be performed in an office environment and in the field. Work done in the field may consist of exposure to various types of weather and temperatures. Engineers may also be exposed to pollutants, chemicals, insects, and possibly water-borne pathogens, Employees are required to wear appropriate protective clothing and gear when performing fieldwork. Travel Construction Representatives will be expected to travel to various work sites to perform fieldwork. Company cars and/or rental vehicles shall be utilized to travel between work sites.
