GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Supervisor of Mathematics is responsible for providing leadership, alignment, coordination, and delivery in developing and improving the math curriculum program for the school division. The Supervisor ensures that resources are available for teacher and student use and provides professional development to implement the assigned instructional program. The Supervisor of Mathematics reports to the Executive Director of Literacy, Academics and Targeted School Improvement.
ESSENTIAL TASKS

• Coordinate and monitor mathematics curriculum development, K-12
• Monitor mathematics curriculum implementation, K-12
• Coordinate the creation of curriculum for mathematics courses and electives
• Conduct professional development opportunities for mathematics, K-12
• Analyze mathematics data and coordinate with building administrators to meet their specific needs
• Develop and monitor local mathematics budget
• Coordinate mathematics textbook adoption, K-12
• Provide mathematics updates concerning SOL testing (current information regarding calculators, testing materials, etc.)
• Observe and conference with mathematics teachers (in conjunction with building administrators)
• Collaborate with Chief Academic and Accountability, Chief Instructional and Administrative Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional and School Improvement, Executive Director of Division Accountability and Strategic Initiatives and Executive Director of Literacy, Academics, and Targeted School Improvement concerning K-12 mathematics
• Review mathematics applications and interview for openings
• Coordinate Algebra Readiness Grant
• Plan and implement the Algebra Readiness Grant budget
• Prepare city-wide benchmark tests throughout the year
• Coordinate and provide testing for middle school placement in mathematics
• Attend local, state, and national conferences
• Supervise math coaches and specialists
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must demonstrate evidence of deep content knowledge in mathematics; strong understanding of academic standards, assessments, use of performance data, and best practices in instructional delivery for mathematics K-12.   Must demonstrate leadership ability to coordinate and implement district-wide initiatives in mathematics.   Possess the ability to work with and train teachers and staff in mathematics.  Strong written and oral communications skills using formal and informal styles as appropriate for audience and purpose are required.  Interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills to effectively facilitate and manage curriculum development, provide classroom support, and resource/budget management is required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master's degree in education administration, endorsement in Mathematics K-12, and a minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience. A postgraduate professional license endorsed in Administration and Supervision is required Alternatively, candidates who are actively enrolled in a program to obtain these endorsements will also be considered.

WORK ENVIRONNMENT

Primary Location Academics Salary Range $75,058.00 - $132,272.00 / Per Year Shift Type Full-Time
