The Albemarle County Public Schools Department of Technology is actively recruiting a Enterprise Application Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will perform a variety of professional and administrative functions related to the development, implementation and support of School division’s Enterprise applications (including Student Information Systems, Human Resources Information Systems, Learning Management Systems, Instructional Management Systems, and other enterprise level applications). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Supports Data Information Systems including operations and underlying technologies;
• Supports data access and application use for all Educational Information Systems as part of a support team;
• Assists in scheduling and coordinating the transfer of data into other systems for the purpose of system interfaces and ensuring the district’s compliance with various reporting requirements;
• Works in conjunction with the Assistant Director for Enterprise Applications & Web Services to review and develop reporting strategies and data relationships;
• Queries and analyzes data to assist in making district decisions;
• Supports teachers, administrators and support staff by providing assistance with data analysis, data structures and related skills development;
• Develops, publishes, and maintains user manuals and documentation manuals that promote proper and efficient use of Information Systems and ensures availability to district users;
• Troubleshoots hardware, software and network problems throughout the district’s information network;
• Installs software as per district procedures and vendor licensing agreements;
• Previews and evaluates new hardware and software;
• Supports teachers, administrators and support staff by providing building-level, department-level and individual assistance with procedural, hardware and software issues and skills development;
• Designs and conducts face-to-face and virtual professional development sessions;
• Represents the department at division-level and school-level meetings;
• Supports legacy systems as needed or necessary;
• Performs various other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrates knowledge of principles, concepts, and methods of applicable computer technology and its most effective and efficient utilization to support the functions of the assigned organization or clientele; strong analytical ability; ability to develop and design reports and manage data; and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Must exercise good judgment. Must have the ability to react to immediate changes in work priorities. Requires excellent interpersonal and diagnostic skills. Must work well independently and as part of a team.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid VA driver’s license is required; Proficiency in typical office applications, especially spreadsheets is required. Demonstrated knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) and database management is desired. Experience with the PowerSchool student information system is preferred.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:
Work is typically performed in an office, computer room, computer classroom laboratory, and/or conference rooms; Continuous ability to communicate by phone is necessary. Regular use of microcomputers, keyboards, laser printers, etc. is necessary. Occasional operation of county vehicles to travel to locations throughout the county is required. Regular contact is made with internal departments and senior persons at all levels of the school division. Contacts are usually cooperative, however, require tact and diplomacy. External contacts with vendor companies and other information services agencies are necessary. Occasional need to perform urgent tasks to meet organizational deadlines. Work activity after normal duty hours and occasional weekend duties are necessary on occasion.

Performance will be evaluated on the ability and effectiveness in carrying out the above responsibilities.

Primary Location Department of Technology Salary Range $63,200.00 - $75,850.00 / Per Year, depending on education, experience and internal equity Shift Type Full-Time
