R&D Chemist
Automation Personnel Services is currently seeking a skilled R&D Chemist with specialized expertise in UV chemistry, particularly in the realm of inks, coatings, and adhesives, to join our team at our Charlotte, NC location. This role demands a hands-on approach, involving substantial bench work alongside direct engagement with suppliers for technical support.
Compensation
Salary range based on experience:
• $55k - $60k for recent college graduates with a degree
• $60k - $70k for candidates with a bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience
• $70k - $80k for candidates with a bachelor’s degree and 5-8 years of experience
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm
R&D Chemist Responsibilities
• Develop and formulate UV coatings and adhesives for the graphic arts industry.
• Conduct qualifications of new raw materials for developmental projects
• Provide ongoing support for quality control by establishing specific testing and procedures.
• Participate in scale-up processes and troubleshooting in manufacturing.
• Communicate internally and externally with sales teams regarding customer-specific projects.
• Document and compile internal reports.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and workspace.
R&D Chemist Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of experience in formulating UV inks, coatings, or adhesives for the graphics industry
• Familiarity with 100% solids UV curable materials relevant to the graphic arts market
• Basic understanding of various printing, coating, and converting applications
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects with time-sensitive deadlines.
• Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently on certain projects.
