General Description Under the general supervision of the Line Crew Chief and Line Workers, to assist in operating and maintaining the utility distribution system in a safe and efficient manner.
This position is a temporary, seasonal position for May - August.
Essential Functions of the Job / Knowledge, Skills and Abilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
• Assists with the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground distribution, transmission, and substation systems.
• Assists with meter installations and disconnects.
• Assists with tree removal and tree trimming.
• Assists with forms and pouring concrete pads.
• Assists with locating underground utilities.
• Assists with general maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Assists with installing and maintaining streetlights.
• Maintains and safely operates department vehicles and equipment.
• Adheres to all department safety standards and guidelines.
The aforementioned functions are normal for this position.  They are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.

• General knowledge of landscaping and grounds reconstruction.
Education and Experience • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid State of Minnesota driver’s license.
• Completion of one-year technical college line worker/electric distribution training program.
Physical Requirements This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, climbing or balancing, reaching with hands and arms, tasting or smelling, lifting and repetitive motions, frequently requires walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and pushing or pulling and occasionally requires sitting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arms length, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electrical shock, frequently requires exposure to wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working in high, precarious places, exposure to extreme cold (non-weather), exposure to extreme heat (non-weather) and wearing a self contained breathing apparatus and occasionally requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals; work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance, heavy traffic).
