About the Lead Pastor:

Purpose:


The Lead Pastor is responsible for:

Assist the elder leadership team in overseeing the life and direction of the church.

Carrying out pastoral leadership of the congregation alongside the team of vocational and lay ministers.

Developing and leading the overall ministry vision of CEFC.

Ensuring that the systems, practices and policies of the church responsibly and effectively support its ministry activities.
The Lead Pastor's Responsibilities Include:
Key Responsibilities and Duties:

General:

Collaborating with the leadership team to define the strategic goals necessary to carry out the vision of CEFC.

Leading and directing staff.

Ensuring that all ministries and activities align with the vision of CEFC.

Providing leadership for building and/or development projects.

Providing leadership of all preaching and teaching communication in the church.

Staff Supervision and Administration:

Supporting staff members as they continue to grow spiritually and professionally.

Hiring and dismissing staff and prioritizing staff additions after consultation and guidance from the elders.

Collaborating with the elders to implement an annual review of staff effectiveness and compensation.

Providing effective communication between ministry staff and elders.

Overseeing and ensuring that the pastoral care needs of the congregation are met.

Overseeing the development and adherence to church policies and procedures.

Providing general oversight of finances, HR responsibilities and legal responsibilities.
What You Bring:
The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Lead Pastor:
Education & Experience

Bachelor Degree - Required

A Master’s of Divinity Degree from a Bible School or Seminary is preferred but not required

The candidate selected must be ordained by the EFCA or be willing and able to be ordained in the EFCA.

10 plus years of ministry

Experience leading a staff team
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Clear communicator of God’s Word

Must be able to communicate effectively

Has a track record of leading staff

Experience in developing a shared vision for staff and the church

Have the heart of a Shepherd for the congregation and the community

Be Biblically sound

Cast, develop, initiate, and drive the strategic vision of Christ EFC in partnership with the Elders

The Lead Pastor serves on the Elder Board, so his life should reflect the qualifications of an
elder as described in 1Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus1:6-9.
