Job Description
SUMMARY
This position will be a part of the distribution team focused on continuous improvement efforts, labor management, and implementation of standard processes and procedures across the Supply Chain. This position helps lead the development and maintenance of an accurate and effective Work Measurement System, focusing on standardization in process and methods, and ensuring effective productivity measurements are established for identified functions through time studies and frequency studies conducted in the Distribution Center. Additionally, the position will analyze DC layout, rack profiles, technology options, slotting methodology, and other aspects of the DC to drive continuous improvement throughout the supply chain from the impact the DC has on the customers (AAP stores) to the internal impact at the DC, to improvements our vendors/suppliers can help achieve. Analyzes work force utilization, work center layout, material flows, production costs, process flow and production requirements to determine the most efficient utilization of personnel and equipment. Creates and maintains continuity across all major process paths with peer buildings, maintaining proper and updated labor standards through standard work documents and SOPs.
To be considered as an applicant for this role, candidates should reside within a commutable distance to the distribution center or be willing to relocate. This role is an on-site position located in the distribution center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Aid in the evaluation and subsequent revision of all work methods and workflow for all functions
• Partner with Store Operations, DC Operations, and AAP Vendors to create a customer focused distribution environment (provides safe, accurate, damage free shipments to our stores that are easy to unload and put away)
• Proactively monitor SKU velocity and other sales events to properly slot SKUs for customer focused distribution.
• Evaluate opportunities for SKU consolidations and re-warehousing for efficient storage and customer focused distribution
• Lead the collection of data and best practice training methods to assist in the development of SOPs.
• Lead and perform the analysis, recommendation, and implementation of enhancements to existing work methods flows and processes to increase throughput.
• Create and maintain standard work across all major process paths within peer operations.
• Develops analysis and cost justification on capital project requests when needed.
• Maintain and consistently update labor standards productivity expectations by process path.
• Develop monitor daily manpower planning tool for various DC processes to better utilize labor.
• With the direction of SC support team, identify and implement distribution and storage process improvements that increase capacity, reduce cost and improve accuracy.
• Work with and influence procurement and inventory teams on standardization opportunities
• Explores and tests reporting functionality working closely with other departments (including IT partners) to configure a stable, standard and scalable reporting platform for the organization.
• Helps establish appropriate metrics and reports to guide leadership
SUCCESS METRICS
Success in this role will be measured by the following metrics:
• Support the development of continuous improvement methods and strategies that support customer focused distribution
• Support the development of clear standards and programs to fix the foundational issues in the supply chain related engineered solutions in the DCs
• Partner with EHS on SOPs that meet or exceed current safety standards related to fire, life, and safety aspects for the DCs
• Assist in development and design of MHE such as AutoStore, WES, PIT, PTL, and other technologies that impact the facilities ability to serve the customer (stores) up to and including full DC design

• Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university (Industrial Engineering or technical supply chain experience preferred).
• 0-5 years of related supply chain facilities or engineering experience.
• Experience in projects related to process design, work measurement, productivity improvement, cost reduction, Kaizen 5S, and project implementation required.
• Strong analytical and problem solving (critical and evaluative thinking) skills to analyze complex data for trends and translate into actionable business recommendations.
• Highly developed problem solving and prioritization skills that will be demonstrated by the successful and timely completion of assignments.
• Ability to drive projects and accept accountability for project progress (on-time, on-budget, quality of work).
• Good verbal and written skills to communicate with TMs and all levels of management.
• Works with management and supervision in the evaluation and development of processes.
• Assist with developing new methods and procedures.
Leadership / Supervisory Responsibilities
• None
Technical Skills
• Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and PowerBI.
• SQL Experience with work measurement methodologies and tools with an emphasis on TIME STUDY expertise required.
• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodology
• AutoCAD experience and ability to read blueprints.
• Experience in DC Operations and with HighJump WMS a plus
• Bilingual Team Members (particularly Spanish-speaking) a plus
