Food Service Specialist - Kismayo

The Specialis's responsibilities include excellent customer support service in a fast-paced environment. The Specialist handles multiple Food Service tasks. The Specialist works with changing priorities and schedules, under deadlines, while maintaining performance standards. The Specialist uses good food service metrics and food service process improvement judgement. This position is located in a worksite with harsh, working and living conditions. As directed by management, the Specialist may supervise personnel in accordance with supervisory duties and responsibilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Provides food preparation, meal service and related support services as assigned. Prepares foods and beverages according to proper food preparation procedure and standards, including temperature guidelines
• Responsible for preparing dining room areas, serving lines, counters, stands, and special dining event areas
• Maintains cafeteria serving lines and replaces and/or refills consumables
• Responsible for washing and sorting dishes, utensils, linens, and equipment
• Performs general housekeeping duties in and around the dining facility, kitchen and storage areas
• Responsible for understanding food preparation terminology, the safe operation of kitchen equipment and tools, and basic cooking and recipe conversion techniques
• May provide task level guidance to less experienced personnel
• May be assigned ordering, inventory, material handling, training and related functions
Experience & Qualifications
• Valid Driver's License and Passport
• Current ServSafe Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain it required
• High School/Secondary School Diploma
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language at the intermediate level as necessary to perform assigned Food Service Specialist functions
• Position requires the basic skills and physical ability necessary to perform assigned Food Service Specialist functions
• Previous OCONUS military environment work experience with a multi-national workforce preferred
• Post Secondary Culinary School, College level education preferred
• Prior AFCAP and/or LOGCAP Contract work experience preferred
