Job Summary
Responsible for using equipment for the assembly and processing tasks to produce finished products according to established specifications. Accountable for adhering to all quality and safety guidelines.
Safely and efficiently execute daily tasks related to synthetic Absorbable Polymer manufacturing in an FDA-regulated environment. Typical tasks include batch equipment charging, discharging, cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintenance as well as raw material preparation and handling.
Duties & Responsibilities
Under general direction and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
• Sets up production equipment to produce subassemblies or finished products.
• Ensures production equipment is properly set up.
• Checks products on assembly line to confirm that they are properly assembled and remove defective products.
• Compiles records and reports on quality inspection results.
• Cleans, maintains and performs basic repairs on equipment as needed.
• Schedules maintenance and/or repairs on equipment as directed.
• Prepares accurate records/documentation related to quality, work in progress, test results, and special projects.
• Troubleshoots production problems.
• Reports and documents unresolved production problems.
Essential Functions
• Manage levels of raw materials and supplies in order to support production demands and avoid expiration.
• Ensure production schedule is being followed.
• Demonstrate an ability to interface with data processor for data collection.
• Demonstrate ability to work independently and/or in teams.
• Work with experienced operator to clean, prepare, start up and shutdown Polymer production equipment in accordance with applicable process specifications.
• Work with experienced operator to understand processes and be able to effectively troubleshoot equipment and/or processes.
• Maintain clean working environment.
• Adhere to good documentation practices.
• Ability to monitor process parameters using instrumentation to ensure proper functioning, making process adjustments as required, demonstrating a working knowledge of the process interface.
• Ability to accurately prepare and review Device History Records (electronic or hard copy).
• Must be able to work independently to clean, prepare, start up and shutdown Polymer production equipment in accordance with applicable process specifications.
• Demonstrate ability to successfully change and archive chart recorder media as appropriate.
• Demonstrate ability to successfully complete Work Orders in accordance with applicable specifications.
• Demonstrates an understanding and ability to monitor the process and environmental data streams.
• Performs other duties assigned as needed
Other Responsibilities
• Comply with all job specific safety procedures and utilize PPE when necessary.
• Comply with quality system requirements as defined within procedures and instructions.
• Use test equipment (Starrett Gauge, Mitutoyo Gauge, Microscope, etc.) where applicable.
• Utilize applicable software systems as needed for the job (e.g. ComplianceWire, ADAPTIV,etc.)
• Consistently meet required work performance targets (RE's), if applicable
• Support LEAN and Six Sigma Initiatives.
• Support Maintenance Excellence (ME2) including 6S and Operator Asset Care.
• Accurately complete records as defined within the job procedures (e.g. manual and/or electronic documentation).
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/facilitator.
• Consistently meet required Training due date targets.
• Support Plant Diversity Process.
• Ensure safe working conditions and practices in the department.
• Submit Work Orders as needed to maintain safe and reliable working conditions and equipment.
• Communicate process and/or equipment problems to supervisor/facilitator in a timely manner.
• Work with appropriate personnel to resolve process deviations in a timely manner.
• Contribute to positive and effective communication from shift to shift and participate in shift changeover meetings
• Understand customer requirements.
• Assist in process improvement activities.
• Follow written specifications to manufacture product.
• Adhere to FDA quality and worldwide quality systems requirements.
• Demonstrate teamwork in identifying, evaluating, and resolving problems within the Department.
• Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
• For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
• Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
Qualifications:
• Experience in mechanics and electrical/electronic skills highly desirable.
• Generally, Requires 2-4 Years Work Experience.
• High school education, G.E.D. or equivalent, experience, or training
• Experience with basic math such as decimals, conversions, percentages, fractions and tolerances are required
• Basic computer and database management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal relation skills.
• Statistical and analytical problem solving.
• Strong working knowledge of the metric system.
• Working knowledge of basic hand and power tools such as a torque wrench, drill, plug gauges, hydraulics, propane torches, etc.
• Ability to take accurate readings on test and monitoring equipment such as vacuum gauges, viscometer, Melt index machine, etc.
• Knowledge of safety, GMP, and ISO 13485.Demonstrated ability to set up and operate manufacturing equipment required.
• Good communication written and oral skills
