Manufacturing Engineer
Manufacturing Engineer – Salina, KS
Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at the facility in Salina, KS to plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing processes in a production environment.
This position typically works Monday-Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
• Spend time on the production floor assisting with process improvements
• Conceptualize and maintain plant layouts
• Assist in capital purchases and projects
• Design or spec fixtures, carts, tooling, etc.
• Liaison between plant and product development to include submitting and managing engineering change requests
• Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related costs for management decisions
• Work closely with materials management to balance the flow of production through the plant
• Develop or revise standard operating and working practices
• Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
• Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
Preferred Skills And Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in mechanical engineering or related field; or 2+ years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Lean advocate with demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes
• Working knowledge of manufacturing/mechanical processes and technology equipment.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, 3D Solid Modeling, Creo and Microsoft Office Products
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
