Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician
Location: Salem, VA, US, 24153
Position Type: Professional

What you will do
At Mack Medium Duty (MMD), you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large. As the Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician, you are responsible for maintaining the equipment reliability and availably. This position will focus on improving equipment performance and providing support during shutdown phases. You must embrace fabrication, modification, and evaluation, supporting the assembly activities by:
• Update and maintain programs in all PLC (Siemens & Allen Bradley)
• Work with members of the maintenance & production departments to troubleshoot malfunctions.
• Support the Facilities team to troubleshoot integrated HVAC, fire, security & lighting systems.
• Create and lead projects to improve performance using Kaizen.
• Update drawings (electrical & mechanical schematics)
• Participate regularly with production, maintenance, and engineering meetings.
• Liaise with service contractors and vendors to develop technical scope for new projects. Oversee the work of contractors in accordance with project requirements.
• Perform machine tooling improvements based on KPIs, MTTR and MTBF.
• Perform torque tooling management & secure torque tools capability thru maintenance, calibration, training, storage, documentation, and record keeping.
• Develop, update, and maintain the technical specifications of new equipment.
• Be willing to learn and grow.
This position will report to the Director of Industrial Engineering.

In 2020, Mack established its Roanoke Valley Operations (RVO) manufacturing facility to produce the Mack Medium Duty (MD) Series. This growing facility is dedicated to the assembly of Mack medium-duty vehicles, adding to an already robust product lineup to reach new customers and applications.

Requirements
• Associate degree in Mechatronics, Electrical or Automation related field.
• 2+ years of related experience either as an intern or full-time employee
• Knowledgeable in ladder programming
• Understanding of Volvo Production System (VPS)
• Experience working in cross functional and multicultural teams
• Demonstrated maintenance experience
• Familiar with problem solving tools, root cause analysis, 5 Whys, etc.
• Strong understanding and comprehension of electrical schematics
• Knowledge and experience working within computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
• Occasional travel required
Necessary Technical / functional / language skills
• As all documentation is in English, proficiency in the English language is required
• Must be proficient in the MS Office Suite
• Basic in CAD
• Strong understanding of the Volvo Group & Mack businesses are a plus
