Summary: The Grow-Finish Field Representative is responsible for working with WPI contract growers to ensure consistent implementation of standard operating procedures to meet marketing and productivity targets. This person will also work closely with growers to ensure the well-being of the animals and promote environmental sustainability through improved efficiencies in site operation. Location: Current opening would be working in the Worthington/Luverne area Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Possess knowledge of all aspects of the Nursery/Wean-Finish/Finish production Provide guidance to growers on WPI manuals, vaccination schedules, and feed budgets Track system-wide marketing trends and provide guidance to growers on selling their pigs Track quarterly and yearly production trends and work with growers to set goals for continuous improvement Requires travel to accommodate Herd Health Schedule Maintain open communication with WPI and contract growers Conduct all scheduled regulatory herd health visits and provide written reports Implement new procedures and updates Track pig flow Strictly follow the recommendations of WPI’s biosecurity protocol Work cooperatively with growers and assist them with day-to-day activities as requested Conduct herd health assessments and give guidance on medication use and spot treating, as needed Assist with supply and/or vet medication orders Collect lab diagnostics for health assessments including, but not limited to, blood samples, tissue samples, etc. Assist with load-ins and load-outs Follow up on all crisis situations to ensure appropriate responses Attend regular supervisor meetings with executive staff Participate in grow-finish field representative and supervisor staff meetings and trainings Maintain PQA Plus & TQA certification status Basic Qualifications: Minimum of AS degree in an Animal Science-related field, or equivalent experience At least one year of work-related swine experience preferred, but willing to train Willing to travel and/or relocate Ability to communicate effectively Excellent production and leadership skills Regular, consistent attendance Be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds with reasonable accommodation Additional Requirements: This position requires operating a company vehicle. Any employment offer for this position is contingent upon the review of your motor vehicle record. A valid Class D license is required. WPI Will Provide: For this position, WPI will provide a company vehicle, cell phone, laptop and all-in-one printer Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to move throughout the farm; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb 3-foot gates, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 50 pounds. Position requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp. Frequently required, for extended periods of time, to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and communicate. Organizational Relationships: Interacts closely with Wakefield Pork contract growers, WPI management, and Head of Grow-Finish Hours: Typically, Monday – Friday with about 40 to 45-hour work weeks Pay and Benefits: A wage proposal will be mailed to the applicant offered the position after the interview process. Salary is determined according to applicant’s skill and background of the industry.
