POSITION SUMMARY Individual is responsible for review of transactional reports, analyzing transactions for suspicious activity, and administration of current policies and practices to ensure compliance with BSA/AML regulations, OFAC, USA PATRIOT Act, identity theft, etc. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for recommending and maintaining policies and procedures as it relates to various aspects of the Bank’s BSA program. Manage coordinating reports/tracking/updates as it applies to Fraud and BSA, which may include preparing draft summary information for various management reports, upcoming department related projects, etc. Assist BSA Officer in research, report review and assessment, case development, and investigation of fraud cases and/or suspicious activity. When identifying BSA compliance issues or concerns, will address the issues with BSA Officer. Monitor OFAC compliance. Responsibilities includes daily and monthly review for monitoring OFAC compliance including, but not limited to new and existing accounts, IAT, ATM, wires, monetary instruments, etc. Manage overall compliance review for Know Your Customer (KYC). Includes review of account documentation, customer information files (CIF), source of funds/wealth, NAICS, e-Funds/ ChexSystems reports, etc. Responsible for assisting client services in determining risk associated with Customer Due Diligence profile and provide recommendations, training, etc. This will include review of business operations descriptions, understanding anticipated activity, identification of beneficial owners, etc. Will assist with maintenance and updating CDD profiles and assist with conducting Enhanced Due Diligence on accounts as needed. Conduct Enhanced Due Diligence as required for higher risk customers, following regulatory agency guidelines, document account review, and provide reports to the BSA Officer. Review Fraud Alerts, Sentry Service alerts, etc. and review of account activity to identify suspicious transactions as it relates to ID Theft, kiting, etc. Investigate BSA/AML alerts. These responsibilities include overall knowledge of transaction processing which includes review of transaction activity reports that include, but are not limited to cash, wire, ATM, ACH, check and RDC. Conduct risk-based analysis as new products or services are provided and review of adjusted transaction processing. Responsible for conducting risk-based analysis with BSA Officer to review as products and services apply to BSA compliance. File Currency Transaction Reports, identify customers for CTR exemptions, maintain all relevant documentation, etc. Document decisions regarding Suspicious Activity Report process and makes filing recommendations to BSA Officer. Complete other duties as assigned. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES OR DETAILS Prepare for internal and external audits and exams. Additional duties as may be assigned by BSA Officer in relations to forming written risk assessments. Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of specific laws and regulations through compliance and BSA/AML publications, in-house resource materials, and external training opportunities. ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Two or more years of banking experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree in business or related field is preferred. 1 year of BSA/AML compliance experience preferred. Strong knowledge of federal and state banking laws and regulations and BSA/AML practices is preferred Demonstrate advanced writing skills Strong Computer Skills: proficient in Excel and Word Ability to adjust to change, and willingness to be a team player Ability to effectively communicate information to staff while displaying the professional demeanor which is identified with Southern First Bank This position requires a professional individual who has the ability to multi-task, handle interruptions, and quickly adjust schedule in a professional manner. Ongoing compliance responsibilities may change as regulations are adjusted by federal guidelines. Individual must demonstrate the ability read and comprehend complex instructions (particularly regulatory and subpoena compliance), and be able to carry out tasks as assigned WORK CONDITIONS Able to work independently and in a team setting to research and respond to routine and in-depth regulatory inquiries. Able to sit at a desk and computer for extended periods of time. Little to no travel required.
