Job Summary The Education Supervisor will assist in the planning, development, coordination, and implementation of education programs, activities, and events that support the progress and growth of HopeTree Academy. The Education Supervisor will focus on education quality and will collaborate with all Academy staff to ensure students are learning and progressing towards their goals. This person will supervise the Instructional Assistants to insure they are performing their roles effectively. Job Requirements This position requires a Master’s Degree in educational administration or special education and a current Department of Education license with an endorsement in Educational Administration and Supervision. Experience as a school administrator and secondary teaching of "at risk", behaviorally challenging students is preferred. A repertoire of effective student motivational and discipline techniques, skills, etc. for middle and secondary students is necessary. This professional must demonstrate excellent human relations and communication skills, qualities, etc. to optimize his/her work with all HopeTree Family Services' leadership, parents, school agencies, localities and youth agencies in a positive manner throughout the Commonwealth. Job Responsibilities 1. Supervise the Instructional Assistants (IAs). Responsible for coaching teaching and mentoring IA’s to be successful in the classroom. 2. Provide support for the administrative aspects of HopeTree Academy including, lesson plan review, IA evaluations, instructional mentoring/coaching activities, assist in the hiring of staff, and conduct classroom observations with the Director of Education, but not serve as the evaluator of teaching staff. 3. Work with Director of Education and Education Assessment Coordinator to provide professional development training for staff. 4. Assist in creating school/instructional programs that align to state standards and program expectations. 5. Support the technology initiative within HopeTree Academy and serve as school’s database administrator overseeing the student management system, including APEX courses, Google Classroom and other digital platforms. 6. Review student files and student assessment data. 7. Positively motivate and develop a good professional relationship with all students in order to help them with school concerns, adjustment problems, making effective realistic goals, solve conflict and problems, and to take responsibility for individual decision-making and self-regulation. 8. Collaborate and work in a professional manner with Academy leadership team, Clinical team, and other HopeTree departments. 9. Provide leadership in accordance with HopeTree’s mission and core values. 10. Provide support and guidance in administering student discipline and rewards. 11. Have expert knowledge of the VDOE regulations and requirements for the operation of private day schools. 12. Provide support and leadership for all aspects of the Academy, including but not limited to, transportation, buildings, grounds, classrooms, communication, staff development, school safety preparedness and security, student development, etc. 13. Provide leadership with school-wide supervision; including participating in the daily duties in assigned areas. 14. Communicate with social workers, parents, school personnel and other professionals as needed/required, on behalf of the students. Ensure all appropriate guidelines are followed when such communication occurs. 15. Maintain certifications and licensure and complete all required trainings annually and participate in Professional Development to remain current in educational practices to implement the policies and procedures of HopeTree Academy. 16.
